A cyclist has died after being hit by a truck in Melbourne’s inner west.
Emergency services responded to a collision between a truck and a cyclist on Whitehall St in Yarraville at about 5.10pm on Wednesday.
The cyclist was treated by paramedics but he died at the scene.
It is understood the truck driver stopped at the scene and assisted police with their inquiries.
Police on Wednesday night closed Whitehall St, Yarraville in both directions between Somerville Rd and Francis St.
Motorists were being advised to follow the direction of emergency services.
It comes as the number of cyclists killed on Victorian roads so far this year has doubled from three to six, according to latest Transport Accident Commission data.
The exact circumstances surrounding the Yarraville crash were on Wednesday night still being investigated by police.
