BMW, luxury watches, $80k cash seized in Brighton drug bust

Organised crime investigators have seized luxury cars, prestige watches and $80,000 in cash after swooping on a bayside home.

Organised crime investigators have seized a BMW, prestige watches, $80,000 in cash and a Ducati motorcycle in a major Brighton drug bust.

Detectives from the Icarus taskforce swooped on a property early on Thursday in the bayside suburb where they allegedly uncovered cocaine, ketamine and methylamphetamine.

They trucked away a BMW X5, a 2021 Toyota HiLux and a 2021 Ducati motorbike.

Also restrained were watches by Rolex, Tag Heuer and Edox, and a new Pioneer DJ set-up which is valued at about $20,000.

A 36-year-old man, described by police as an unlawful non-citizen – has been charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of ketamine, trafficking a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, trafficking cocaine and dealing with property suspected of being the proceeds of crime.

The man was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on August 8.

Officers for the Caulfield divisional response unit assisted with the operation.

The investigation had its genesis in a series of drug detections by Australian Border Force officers.

Detective Inspector Dan Ryan from the Icarus taskforce said investigators had worked tirelessly on the inquiry.

“Victoria Police remains absolutely committed to targeting those people who are not only selling it to vulnerable Victorians but also profiting heavily from it,” Insp Ryan said.
