‘Blew his hand or arm off’: Man rushed to hospital following explosion in Diggers Rest
A man is has been rushed to hospital feared to have lost a limb following an early morning explosion in Diggers Rest as investigators probe the cause of the blast.

A man has been rushed to hospital with critical injuries following an early morning explosion in Diggers Rest with investigators looking into the cause of the blast.
The explosion rocked Licence Rd just around 1.15am with ambulances quickly on the scene.
“Paramedics responded to an emergency call in Diggers Rest at around 1.15am Thursday,” they said.
“A male in his 40s was transported by road to The Alfred Hospital in a critical condition with upper body injuries.”
Police said they are looking into the incident with a photo showing a large area of the street cordoned off well into Thursday.
“It is understood a man was inside property on License Road when the explosion occurred about 1.15am,” they said.
“Police are making inquiries into the cause of the incident.”
Melbourne woman Donna Berwick commented on Facebook that she had spoken to workers in the area who said the man may have lost a limb.
“Just spoke to council workers who have blocked off the road further up with LCD screens,” she posted.
“They were saying there was an explosion … (in the) early hours in the morning and he blew his hand or arm off.
“Currently searching the house for bomb making materials.”
