A 12-year-old boy has been entangled in an alleged crime crusade across the Mornington Peninsula that ended with a dramatic arrest at a petrol station.
Officers were filmed hauling one young suspect through the smashed rear window of an allegedly stolen vehicle and throwing him to the ground before taking him into custody.
The boy initially resisted arrest before the officer pinned him to the ground, placing him in handcuffs.
The allegedly stolen vehicle was boxed in by the police vehicles at the bowser.
Three other youths were seen running from the service station toward Point Nepean Rd in Blairgowrie in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
“We can’t help but love seeing this moment of panic among these clowns and hearing them beg to be let go,” one social media post wrote.
Police were called following reports of a robbery at licences venue on Ocean Beach Rd in Sorrento about 12.50am before tracking the allegedly stolen Mercedes to the service station.
“The Mercedes was discreetly followed and observed entering a nearby service station,” police said in a statement.
“Several police vehicles descended on the parked Mercedes which was then reversed into an unmarked police car before six people attempted to flee on foot.
“Officers arrested six people at the scene, while a seventh ran away. OC spray was deployed during the arrests.
“A number of items, also believed to have been stolen, were located inside the vehicle.”
A 16-year-old boy was charged with theft of motor vehicle and theft.
He will face a children’s court at a later date.
A Seaford man, 19, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and theft.
He was bailed to appear in court next month.
Two Rosebud boys, aged 12 and 14, were cautioned.
A 16-year-old Carrum Downs girl and a Langwarrin girl, also 16, were also cautioned.
It was one of several violent incidents reported on the peninsula on New Year’s Eve.
A 16-year-old boy allegedly stabbed another boy outside a packed IGA in the neighbouring suburb of Blairgowrie about 5.40pm the same day.
Police say the alleged victim, who is a local boy, was walking on Point Nepean Rd when he was set upon by a group of young people.
Another teenager was injured during a separate violent stabbing attack on the beach at Sorrento about 2am on Wednesday.
He was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
