A Mongols bikie boss faces criminal charges after police raided multiple homes over wild antics at a Melbourne club ride where burly bikies were seen smoking up tyres.

Mongols' Melbourne ride

A Mongols bikie boss is among three outlaw motorcycle members facing criminal charges over wild antics at a recent ride.

Echo Taskforce detectives led raids at patched members’ homes in Brighton, Bundoora and Rowville as well as the gang’s clubhouse in Port Melbourne on Thursday morning.

The raids related to dangerous driving during the Mongols’ organised ride in Port Melbourne and the city on July 4.

Burly bikies were seen smoking up their tyres as they performed burnouts in footage posted online by notorious bikie Toby Mitchell.

The Mongols national sergeant-at-arms was charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drive while causing loss of traction, fail to wear motorcycle helmet and drive unregistered motor vehicle.

The 36-year-old was arrested at his Brighton home and bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on December 14.

Another patched bikie, aged 31 from Rowville, was also charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drive while causing loss of traction and fail to wear motorcycle helmet.

He was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on November 5.

A 26-year-old Mongols bikie from Bundoora was also charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury, drive whilst disqualified, drive while causing loss of traction, fail to wear motorcycle helmet, and fail to comply with a 465AAA order, which relates to assistance to access devices.

Two motorcycles were seized as part of the raids and will be forensically examined by police.

The raids come days after a major operation targeting Mongols bikies and associates in Cobram.

Nine people, including local sergeant-at-arms Joshua Eddy, were arrested as part of the cross-border drug trafficking sting.

Assistant Commissioner Bob Hill vowed to continue going after outlaw motorcycle gangs that harm the community.

“If they believe they can operate above the law, then they are wrong and we will continue to target their criminal activities regardless of what form they take,” he said.

“Victoria Police, including Echo Taskforce members, continue their relentless pursuit to disrupt OMCG activity.

“We will hold offenders to account and make every effort to stamp out their antisocial and unlawful ventures.”
