Gang detectives have raided the Hells Angels’ notorious Thomastown clubhouse as part of a murder inquiry.

A search warrant was carried out on the Lipton Drive stronghold run by the Angels’ Nomads division in connection with the disappearance of Adelaide gang associate Kerry Giakoumis.

That building was the last place Mr Giakoumis, 29, was seen alive in the early hours of June 20 last year.

Police confirmed they seized a number of items following the raid.

The items will now be forensically analysed. No arrests have been made.

It is the second time in two months Lipton Drive had been raided over the Giakoumis case.

A major police taskforce, including specialist homicide, missing persons and OMCG detectives, has been assembled to investigate what happened that night.

The raid came after a series of searches of the Jacksons Creek area of Diggers Rest earlier this month in which investigators tried to find the remains of Mr Giakoumis.

“This follows information that was provided to police in relation to the investigation,” a Victoria Police statement said.

Mr Giakoumis travelled from Adelaide to Melbourne on June 5 last year with two members of the South Australian North Crew arm of the Angels.

He told family he had concreting work lined up.

His family became alarmed when Mr Giakoumis did not make his booked flight home.

“Investigators from the taskforce are also working closely with South Australia Police to investigate a number of avenues of enquiry within Adelaide,” the police statement said.

Detectives suspect a dispute broke out inside the clubhouse on the night Mr Giakoumis vanished.
