A prison guard has been bashed at maximum security Barwon Prison on Tuesday morning.
The male officer was attacked at about 8.20am by a male prisoner in the jail’s Grevillea unit.
He is believed to have suffered non-life-threatening facial injuries.
Ambulance officers are at the scene and police are expected to attend to investigate.
Barwon, near Geelong, is Victoria’s most secure prison and houses some of the state’s most dangerous criminals.
