WHEN people go on holidays they bombard their social media accounts with photos boasting about their exploits. The food porn, the exotic location, the iconic statue.
The photo you really want to be championing is the photobomb. The animal kingdom is by far the biggest culprit in hijacking holiday snaps. Even more fun than the animal photobomb is the well timed tourist on a mission of tomfoolery.
Here are our favourite holiday photobombs. Take inspiration and get creative.
Beardo and Dreadlocks
They first became viral as Epic Stare man, then Beardo and Dreadlocks. When Broc Verschoor (Beardo) and Hans Hokenson (Dreadlocks) from Pennsylvania, USA, took a trip to Philadelphia, Boston and New York they became a viral sensation by photobombing the background of live news crosses that they stumbled on.
Did somebody say cheese?
Melissa Brandts and Jackson Brandts, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, set up their camera for a time delay shot in Banff National Park, Canada. As they smiled for the camera and waited for the snap a wily squirrel saw an opportunity and took it.
Chomping at the bit
Melburnian Justine was on holidays in Perth when she tried to take a selfie with a camel. The camel surprised her mid selfie by biting her head and giving her the photobomb of a lifetime.
Up-staged
Christina Sander was on holidays in Boston when she stopped in front of the George Washington monument to pose for a photograph. Apparently she heard an approaching jogger scream “This is a photobomb.” The screaming jogger was Kevin Spacey.
Say cheese
He has been named Gavin the photobombing parrot fish. When tourists fork out for the Seawalker experience at Green Island on the Great Barrier Reef, Gavin flashes his pearly whites.
Upside down
These students were part of a volunteer group working in Costa Rica. They were posing for a group photo when a sloth poked it’s head into frame.
Oh the horror
Usually the photobomber is the star of the picture. In this holiday snap, the stingray is a mere passenger to this woman’s terror.
