The gobsmacking villa where the royals stayed on their recent jaunt to Ibiza

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spared no expense on their recent holiday in Ibiza, staying in a luxury villa that costs around $50,000 a week to rent.

Meghan Markle knows exactly what she's doing

The royals stayed in a “billionaires’ playground” of mansions on their Ibiza break.

Harry and Meghan, with baby Archie, went to the gated Vista Alegre complex, which boasts dozens of sea-facing superhomes, The Sun reports.

The totally secluded villas are on a hillside overlooking Porroig bay on the Spanish island’s southwest coast.

A week in one of the resort’s most exclusive villas costs more than £25,000 ($A44,800) — although many of the poshest homes do not have a price advertised.

The royals flew to Ibiza on a private jet before being whisked to the resort by car.

Locals said the already-tight security presence was increased while they were in the complex.

One said: “The area has been built to a high specification and is a billionaires’ playground so the security staff know what they are doing.”

One of the most exclusive villas is Sa Calma at £120,000 ($A215,000) a week. It has been hired by multi millionaire DJ David Guetta and Sir Paul McCartney.

The three- storey building — with a 50-metre pool — comes with a house manager, chef and waitress and access to a Range Rover Auto-biography with its own driver.

A butler, yoga instructor and personal trainer can be arranged.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had looked at staying on the £120,000 ($A215,000) -a-week Togomago Island, off Ibiza, before opting to stay in Vista Alegre.

A source on the private isle, where footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, actor Liz Hurley and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood have holidayed recently, said: “They did have a team make an inquiry, but the interest in making a booking never materialised.”

The Sun told last week how the private jet Harry and Meghan used to fly back from their Spanish holiday is from a fleet let to billionaires.

It is not known who paid for the flights to and from Ibiza.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
