A prominent Muslim preacher has come under fire for a raft of highly offensive social media posts about Australia’s gay community.
Mohamed Shaar, who works as a natural healer and authorised marriage celebrant at Sydney’s Ruqyah Centre in south-western Sydney, regularly posts about gay people on his public account.
In recent posts he lambasted gay people as “filthy” and told his followers that they will be condemned to hell.
A post on February 24 warned Muslims against working with Uber after they advertised an “Uber Pride Ride”.
Another time he chastised Canterbury-Bankstown libraries for hosting Rainbow Story time.
“Shame on this human race, shame on this government that slows (sic) this filthy people,” he fumed on February 22 on Facebook.
The post also featured a video criticising a poster of a ‘furry’ in leather-bondage with a teddy bear head, lying on a couch with a pride flag and beer can in central Sydney.
The posts coincided with World Pride, which began on February 17 and finished on March 5.
On February 17 he posted this ominous warning: “Today marks the first day of the curse of Allah yes and for the next 13 days and inshallah till end of times. The amount of sick people in this world still don’t understand that Allah created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Keep and educated your kids about the haram and the cursed of this people.”
Shaar hit the headlines last year when he claimed Covid-19 did not exist but was then left fighting for his life in hospital after contracting the Delta strain of the virus.
Despite preaching to his followers that vaccine jabs were ineffective, Shaar was rushed to hospital in an ambulance after becoming unwell.
