SONY sent out invitations to a ‘PlayStation Meeting’ this week, sparking rumours they will reveal details of their new gaming console, the PlayStation Neo.
The event will be held in New York on September 7 with promises from Sony to ‘share details about the PlayStation business.’
But rumours are growing that the technology giant will announce information about its upcoming game console, the PlayStation Neo.
Details of the event, which will be held at the PlayStation Theatre, have been kept secret but in June, Sony CEO, Andrew House, revealed the console will have improved graphics.
He told the Financial Times that the PlayStation Neo will also have a faster processor, support high definition 4K resolution and be more expensive.
Also referred to as ‘Neo’, the improved console is designed with hardcore gamers in mind and its boost in processing power will make it more compatible for virtual reality games.
“We will be selling both versions through the life cycle,” he said.
“All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4.”
PlayStation also plan to launch their first VR headset, which will go on sale on October 13.
Costing $549.95 for the headset alone and an additional $89.95 needed to purchase a PlayStation Camera means the ability to enter fully immersive worlds from the comfort of your home won’t come cheap.
Sony rival, Microsoft, are also launching a new console called ‘Project Scorpio’ in 2017.
