AMAZING how satisfying it is to see someone eat humble pie — especially when they have had the nerve to sledge Winx.

Matt Chapman, the UK race caller who earlier this week suggested the mighty mare was ‘overrated” collapsed to his knees on the track alongside on of the mighty mare’s co-owners, seemingly full of remorse for his comment.

Midway through her post race interview, Debbie Kepitis stopped mid-sentence as Chapman approached her.

“Excuse me for a moment I want to take over because there’s a man here that needs to apologise,” she said.

“You know what he will probably still say Benbatl is not that good at home, he still won’t think she’s the world’s best but my God in my book she is.

“The there you go Matt they came we conquered bring on everything you want to bring. She is amazing and please look at how she does it and appreciate what she’s done.

“You don’t have to agree. You don’t have to say — owe an apology. Just watch and look and see and feel.”

“I don’t think I need to say anything, Winx has said everything,” Chapman said.

Chapman has described being at Moonee Valley to witness Winx’s record-breaking win as one of his best moments on a racecourse.

Chapman caused a stir at the barrier draw for the Cox Plate when he questioned whether Winx was entitled to be rated the world’s best racehorse.

He ruffled a few feathers, not the least Winx’s trainer Chris Waller, who called him a d***head in a radio interview.

“I was lucky enough to be at Morphettville when Black Caviar broke the record and when Makybe Diva won her third Melbourne Cup,” Chapman said. “I saw American Pharoah win the Breeders Cup Classic after winning the Triple Crown and this is certainly up there with the best of them.

“It’s very difficult to say what is the best of the best, but as a day it is one I will never forget.”

Pick up your Sunday Herald Sun tomorrow for your 24-page commemorative liftout that will tell the remarkable story of the mare that captured the heart of a nation.
