Creswick Series final market updates

OUR experts give you an early shot at finding a winner as they look at the major races around the nation this weekend.

THE EARLY OIL: FLEMINGTON

Last week … Four winners. SuperRacing’s Simon Moy made it back-to-back best bets with Rillito ($2.20) a very easy watch for punters in Melbourne. Brisbane’s Nathan Exelby chimed in with his value selection, Ringo’s A Rockstar, coming through at $4.60. Lincoln Moore joined the party with Assertive Play ($2.70) too good in Adelaide, while Stephen Zammit delivered in Sydney with Alassio ($3.60).

SATURDAY (AEST)

ROYAL RANDWICK (9 races, start 11.35am), FLEMINGTON (9 races, 11.50am), DOOMBEN (9 races, 11.42am), GAWLER (8 races, 12.06pm), BELMONT (8 races, 2.38pm)

ROYAL RANDWICK

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegragh) Form: s3643

REDOUBLE (Race 8, No. — $3.10)

On the quick back-up after closing late for third to Easy Eddie at Rosehill over 1100m last week. The Bjorn Baker-trained sprinter has been improved by two runs from a spell and steps up to a more suitable 1300m trip. Redouble gets the benefit of apprentice Jean Van Overmeire’s 2kg claim and gets into this race and he handles soft tracks. He’s ready to win.

Value bet: HYPNOTIST (Race 6, No. 3 — $11)

MATT JONES (Daily Telegraph) Form: 23152

SHE KNOWS (Race 9, No. 1 — $4)

She’s such a consistent little filly who gets into this race well at the weights and the opposition isn’t much harder than it was when she won last start.

Value bet: INVICTUS PRINCE (Race 8, No. 7 — $9)

STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegragh) Form: 2s1681

REDOUBLE (Race 8, No. 4 — $3.10)

Trained by Bjorn Baker, this gelding returned from a break at Rosehill, then came from a mile back when the minor placegetter at the same track last time out. Steps up to 1300m here and has the services of star apprentice Jean Van Overmeire. Will be hitting the line hard.

Value bet: POPULAR (Race 6, No. 5 — $5.50)

SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman) Form: s39s0

MARMARIS (Race 1, No. 1 — $3)

The best form in the race; unlucky on debut, then second to Sandbar, won, then second to Dio D’oro. The son of Exceed And Excel is second-up and is the best credentialed horse in the race which accounts for his 58kg. Probably a bit more worried about the draw (8 of 8) than the weight.

Value bet: SEPOY ACHEVA (Race 4, No. 7 — $8.50)

MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS

FLEMINGTON

MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun)

LYCURGUS (Race 6, No. 4 — $4)

Kept Choysa in his sights last start and proved far too good this track and distance. He’s up in weight but looks to have his rivals covered ability wise.

Value bet: SILENTZ (Race 8, No. 17 — $8.50)

GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun). Form: 13122

GOOD ‘N FAST (Race 5, No. 1 — $3.10)

Impressive Sebring colt who has created a big impression in first two runs. Could be a star of the future.

Value bet: SILENTZ (Race 8, No. 17 — $8.50)

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: x1122

GOLDIFOX (Race 5, No. 6 — $3.90)

There’s not a lot between her and the favourite Good ’N’ Fast. She ran quicker sectionals at their last start, the 1600m looks ideal and she’ll settle closer in the run. The 2.5kg weight swing is a little bonus.

Value bet: OZI CHOICE (Race 8, No. 6 — $4.40)

SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 32s11

GAULOIS (Race 4, No. 1 — $4.40)

Endured a tough run when wide without cover at Flemington last start and was entitled to tire. Inside gate should allow him to settle in much better position.

Value bet: RIB EYE (Race 8, No. 15 — $17)

DOOMBEN

NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 31137

UNCONDITIONAL (Race 3, No. 1 — $4.20)

Didn’t enjoy the best of luck last week and was probably beaten by an above average type. Looks suited going to 1350m now and just needs to back up recent ratings to win again.

Value bet: DENBERN (Race 4, No. 7 — $7)

NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 73126

HALLELUJAH BOY (Race 5, No. 1 — $1.75)

Former Japanese galloper who has taken his time to find his best in Australia but won well at Randwick last start and looks ideally placed to make it back to back victories and will be worth sticking with going forward.

Value bet: MAN FROM UNCLE (Flem Race 9, No. 5 — $5.50)

MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS

GAWLER

LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 312x1

CROCKET (Race 1, No. 1 — $1.75)

Smart two-year-old who did his best work late behind a smart filly first-up from a spell.

Should take plenty of benefit from that outing and should be winning here for the in-form McEvoy stable.

Value: NACAR (Race 6, No. 10 — $10).

MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
