Our experts give you an early shot at finding a winner as they look at the major races around the nation this weekend.
Last week … Seven winners. Superracing’s Simon Moy continued his superb form with both his best bet Fallen Empire ($3.30) and value bet Mr Money Bags ($4.60) getting the chocolates. Glenn McFarlane was tuned into the same channel with value bet Mr Money Bags ($4.60), while Chris Vernuccio delivered as he always does with Order Of Command ($2.25) finding the bullseye. Ray Thomas maintained his consistency with best bet Heart Conquered ($2.10) getting home and his Sydney lieutenant Matt Jones found Easy Eddie ($5) as his value selection. At Morphettville, Lincoln Moore didn’t disappoint with Hussybay ($2.35) simply too strong, while the TAB’s Nick Quinn rounded out the day with hotshot Dubious ($1.75) outgunning his rivals at Eagle Farm.
** Michael Manley, Glenn McFarlane, Brad Davidson and Matt Jones are on leave.
THE EARLY OIL: MOONEE VALLEY
SATURDAY (AEDT)
DOOMBEN (9 races, start 1.25pm), MOONEE VALLEY (9 races, 12.45pm), ROYAL RANDWICK (9 races, 1.05pm), MORPHETTVILLE (8 races, 1.32pm), ASCOT (8 races).
ROYAL RANDWICK
RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegragh). Form: x7211
DEPRIVE (Race 8, No. 4 — $2.50)
Deprive unleashed an impressive burst of acceleration to weave through the field and power past his rivals to win over 1100m at Randwick on a soft track two weeks ago. He is even better on top of the ground and 1200m suits. Drawn well and should be able to settle closer to the leaders. Promising sprinter who can win again.
Value bet: FUCHU (Race 4, No. 9 — $9.50)
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman). Form: 12444
YITAI SYNERGY (Race 1, No. 12 — $2.70)
Has to win to make the Magic Millions field, let alone be a winning chance on January 12 but now that she drew 2, I promoted her from top pick to best bet. The trial wins have been awesome.
Value bet: BERDIBEK (Race 7, No. 6 — $15)
NICK QUINN (TAB). Form: 56321
MISTER SONGMAN (Race 4, No. 3 — $2)
Progressive galloper from the Waterhouse/Bott stable who has placed both runs this campaign and looks ready to return to the winners list third up and stepping up to 1400 metres where he has won his only start.
Value bet: BEAUTY WAY (The Valley Race 6, No. 3 —$6)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MOONEE VALLEY
CHRIS VERNUCCIO (SuperRacing). Form: 11411
OUR LUCA (Race 9, No. 3 — $3.60)
Ticks a lot of boxes. Loves the track and distance and should get the perfect run either leading or off the speed.
Value bet: SYMPHONETTE (Race 3, No. 3 — $8)
SIMON MOY (SuperRacing). Form: 1x101
OUR LUCA (Race 9, No. 3 — $3.60)
Looks desperately hard to beat again as he chases fourth consecutive win at The Valley.
Value bet: CHAPAL (Race 7, No. 10 — $4.40)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
DOOMBEN
NATHAN EXELBY (The Courier-Mail). Form: 24711
IGNITE THE LIGHT (Race 1, No. 4 — $2.70)
Torched in the race won by Awesome Pluck last time when they went lickety split up the pointy end. Comes back a cog or two this time and he will be able to have a more enjoyable time of it on the speed here. Has clocked fast time around this circuit and this looks his right grade.
Value bet: BOOMSARA (Race 6, No. 1 — $6.50)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
MORPHETTVILLE
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser). Form: 32541
DANGER DEAL (Race 7, No. 2 — $2.10)
Above average galloper who resumed with a good win back in class. He’s still only won the two races, but banked more than $170,000 and raced and been unlucky against some much better horses in his 19 start career. Drawn wide but looks to have the class to overcome that here.
Value: COSTA LANTE (Race 2, No. 5 — $19)
MARKETS: TAB FIXED ODDS
