Pat Webster can’t understand why Happy Clapper hasn’t polled more votes for All-Star Mile

Pat Webster can’t get his head around how his grand galloper Happy Clapper could miss out on a start in the All-Star Mile (1600m).
“That’s what he’s set for and I thought he’d be a shoe-in. He’s won the most money, he’s the highest rated horse but I don’t know how to do social media and I think it’s cost us. It’s a bit disappointing,” Webster said.

APOLLO STAKES: MASSIVE BETS ALREADY COME FOR WINX
Happy Clapper currently sits 17th place in the All-Star Mile voting.
“I’m hoping the more professional of the voters are keeping their powder dry until the last minute as they want to see the form from this weekend.”
The eight-year-old is resuming on Saturday in the Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick where he will again take on Winx.
Webster also suggested his home state voters didn’t know a lot about the All-Star Mile.
“There was a back page at the start but since then there’s only been snippets. Hopefully the Sydneysiders will get behind us at the last minute.”
Webster said he doubted whether Happy Clapper would gain a wildcard into the race.
“There’s only four wildcards. I imagine they’ll give one to the Australian Guineas winner and keep one for Winx if they could get her to run. That leaves two wildcards and I don’t think he’ll get one.”
Webster said if Happy Clapper wasn’t in the top 10 when voting closed on Monday he would readjust his program to concentrate solely on the Sydney carnival.
“The All-Star was our aim but there’s plenty of races in Sydney such as the George Ryder and the Doncaster.”
Webster said Happy Clapper had returned to work in good order and he expected she would run well without beating Winx on Saturday.
“I dodged her last spring and it didn’t work as he doesn’t like Caulfield. This time he can start off in his own backyard and then I can take him to Flemington where he runs well.”
Another Sydney trainer made Alizee has burst into the top 10 and was sixth in the voting on Wednesday afternoon.
The Autumn Sun had also taken the lead in the votes with 8949 votes from Urban Ruler on 8104 votes.
