THOUSANDS of punters are expected to turn out to Flemington Racecourse to watch the Derby Day races. So if you’re one of them and you’re unsure how to get to Flemington Racecourse or don’t know the dress code, never fear because we have all you need to know about the 2018 Derby Day races.

What time does Derby Day start, gate opening times
Gates Open at 8.30am. The first race is at 11.45am.
What time is the Victoria Derby?
The main race will start at 3.50pm.

Eectro-pop outfit Miami Horror will being playing in The Park from 4.10pm — 5pm.
ARIA nominated DJ Hayden James will be playing in The Park from 5.20pm- 6.20
Derby Day 2018 dress code for men, women, children
The Derby Day dress code is strictly black and white.
Members’ Enclosure dress code:
Men:
Men and boys over the age of 12 are required to wear a suit or tailored pants with a jacket, sports coat or blazer, plus a tie and dress shoes, at all times. The blue cornflower is the official flower of AAMI Victoria Derby Day and it’s encouraged to pin this to your jacket lapel.
Women:
Ladies and girls over 12 years of age are expected to maintain a suitable standard of dress in keeping with the distinction of the Members’ Enclosure.

How to get to Flemington Racecourse
Train
Special trains run direct to Flemington Racecourse on Derby Day.
Going to Flemington Racecourse:
From 8.17am an express service to Flemington Racecourse, will depart every 10-15 minutes from Flinders St Station (Platforms 8 & 9), Southern Cross station (Platform 8) and North Melbourne Station (Platform 6). Between 1.25pm and 5pm a non-express train will run to Flemington Racecourse every 5-10 minutes.
Leaving Flemington Racecourse:
Between 1.36pm — 2.55pm a train will depart Flemington Racecourse every 10 minutes stopping at North Melbourne Station, Southern Cross Station and finishing at Flinders Street Station. From 3.02pm — 8.56pm a train will depart every 5-10 minutes.
Trams
From the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street catch the No. 57 West Maribyrnong tram to Flemington Drive (stop 30).
Please note, low-floor trams do not run on Route 57 and it is therefore recommended passengers using a mobility aid should catch the train to the racecourse.
Bus
Catch Route 472 bus from Williamstown, Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Fisher Parade. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Riverbank entrance.
Catch Route 404 bus from Footscray or Moonee Ponds to Smithfield Road. Enter Flemington Racecourse via Stables Drive entrance.

Flemington racecourse parking
Members’ parking
Centre car park opens at 7.30am
Limited public carparking is available in the centre car park for $20. Enter off Smithfield Road at the Stables Drive entrance.
VCR members car parks
Members parking in the Unreserved Car Park must enter via Flemington Drive off Epsom Road.
