Hockeyroos and Kookaburras’ Paris Olympics 2024 Guide: Team list, schedule, draws, latest news

Australia’s hopes of returning to medal glory at the Paris Olympics looks bright. This is everything you need to know.

Going Gold: Paris 2024 Olympic uniforms revealed

The path to Paris Olympics gold for our Hockeyroos and Kookaburras is set.

The Aussies are among 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams divided into two pools each.

Each team will play five games and the top four in each pool will reach the quarter-finals.

The men open their Olympic campaign on July 27 against Argentina, which placed greater onus on their FIH Pro League clashes against Los Leones in Europe in May.

“To play Argentina first-up is exciting for us,” Kookaburras coach Colin Batch said in March 2024.

The next day, the Hockeyroos have a relatively easy one to tip things off against world No.18 South Africa.

However, they will have revenge on their mind when they face Great Britain on July 30 in a mouth-watering rematch against the team that shocked them in the gold-medal decider at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Hockeyroos coach Katrina Powell said the draw threw up few surprises.

“We knew the layout of the matches would be tough, we have two back-to-back scenarios, but we’ve been preparing for that and, as expected, it’s come to fruition,” Powell said.

In June the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos named their squads for the Games, with Rosie Malone controversially overlooked.

Hockey Australia was in June also rocked by a report that shone a light on the grievances of current and former players left disgruntled by their treatment of the governing body.
