The Gregson family will soon be booking their tickets to the 2020 Olympics, as the mother of Genevieve Gregson (nee LaCaze) provides an insight into the drive and dedication that will make her daughter a triple Olympian in Tokyo.
Overnight, the Australian Athletics team co-captain secured a coveted top 10 finish with a season best time in the 3000m steeplechase at the World Athletics Championship in Doha. This was after initially running a 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifying time earlier in the meet.

“She has never been afraid or ashamed of having big dreams and setting goals,” said Gregson’s mother Donna.
“Most of us have always been too frightened to think like her in case of being disappointed.
“She faces challenges head on. Fearlessness is not something you can be taught, but it is inspiring.
“Her focus and commitment to reaching the goals is a fire in her belly.”
The John Paul College past student will become a triple Olympian after first attending the London Games in 2012 and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Speaking to Athletics Australia earlier this morning after her top 10 finish in the final, Gregson illustrated her love and passion for the sport.

“That was awesome,” Gregson said.
“It was such an experience to be back out there, the crowd is nowhere near as big as I am used to at World Champs, but the feeling never gets old.
“I had goosebumps when I ran out.
“I don’t think there’s a better feeling for an elite athlete than representing your country and I am just so grateful to be on that start line and give it everything.”
“I hope that today was an example that others on the team can look up too.”
