Those festivities will kick off with the closing ceremony which marks the official end of the Games, and the passing of the baton to Los Angeles which will host the next summer Olympics in four years.

The Paris Olympic Games closing ceremony will take place on Sunday, August 11 in Paris which will be early Monday morning in Australia.
It is the final event of the Games with the last sports wrapping up their programs on Sunday afternoon.

The closing ceremony will begin at 9pm local time in Paris.
For Australians, the ceremony will begin at 5am AEST on Monday, August 12.
Where is the closing ceremony for the 2024 Olympics?
The closing ceremony will be held in the Stade de France.
The Stade de France hosted both the rugby sevens and athletics portions of the Games. It will also host the para-athletics in the upcoming Paralympics.
This move goes away from the non-traditional opening ceremony which took place on boats down the River Seine.
Who will be performing at the closing ceremony?
Thomas Jolly, a famous French actor and artistic director who also directed the opening ceremony, will return to put together the closing ceremony show.
The name of the show is called, ‘Records’, as the Games look to celebrate the athletes and their achievements in Paris.

One of the major parts of the closing ceremony is passing on the Olympics to the next host, Los Angeles. As a result, several American celebrities are expected to be involved.
US talk show host Jimmy Fallon is set to host the ceremony alongside sports commentator Mark Tirico.
Famous actor Tom Cruise is also tipped to play a big role in the evening, including a stunt or two. The Mission Impossible star is the only major name to be confirmed to this stage.
The opening ceremony included both Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, so expect similar fanfare for the closing ceremony on Sunday. There have even been some unconfirmed rumours that Taylor Swift could be involved.

The closing ceremony is set to go for two hours and 15 minutes, with the scheduled finish time currently slated at 11.15pm local time (7.15am AEST).
