There were a series of stunning performances on day two of the NSW All Schools athletics with our young female athletes leading the way when it came to setting new marks at the annual meet.
In the wake of Sebastian Sultana setting a new record in the 17s sprint on Saturday, Delta Amidzovski and Ada Rand turned up in sizzling form and left the track with a meet record each early in the day.
Joshua Kalozi then followed suit with a sizzling time in the 17s 110m hurdles with more meet records falling in the 400m racing in the afternoon.
A pair of siblings also impressed as did a newcomer to the All Schools competition.
We take a look at some of the standout performances on day five of the meet which is being contested by more than 2000 young athletes form across NSW.
DAY ONE WRAP: Big record for former footballer
ADA RAND SHOCKS HERSELF WITH ALL SCHOOL RECORD
It’s been a long time between drinks for young gun Ada Rand when it comes to PB’s.
But the drought is over with the Meriden School student not just posting one in the 1500m 17 years girls race at the championships but also snatching a meet record.
Rand beat the 2017 time of 4:25.74 2017 set by Sarah McDermott from Abbotsleigh, in winning her title on Sunday.
“I’m just so surprised. This is my first PB in two years,’’ said Rand, a Year 9 student who lives at Balmain and is working with new coach Ben Liddy.
“Last year I had an awful season. I just wasn't; t feeling myself but I've been working hard on my fitness. and doing long runs which has also helped.
“My pace has improved and I feel much better.’
Girls 17 years 1500m
1 Rand, Ada 17 Meriden School 4:22.83R
2 Winward, Lily 17 Ulladulla High 4:34.45
3 Toohey, Mia 17 De La Salle 4:53.82
In the 14-years 1500m, Matthew McLaughlin produced a five PB to break the championship record of 4:07.41 set by Daniel Williams in 2021.
The youngster won his event in 4:06.09.
DELATA AMIDZOVSKI ACHIEVES BIG GOAL IN FIRST RACE
After a year to remember travelling with the Australian youth team, Delta Amidzovski has made a big impression in her first race at All Schools.
The 16-year-old won the 110m hurdles with a meet record time of 13.49.
It was the third straight win in the event for the young gun
Her next event at the championships is the long jump.

JOSHUA KALOZI HURDLES TO MEET RECORD
In another meet record breaking performance on Sunday, Joshua Kotis and Rashid Kabba both recorded times under the old meet record in the boys 110m hurdles 91.4cm for 17 years.
Both speedsters runners went under the record of 13.74 set back in 2016 by Will Lloyd from Barker College.

SHARNI HURDMAN AND XAVIER PERRY SET 400M RACING ALIGHT
It was an afternoon of super fast times on Sunday with Sharni Hurdman and Xavier Perry both setting new meet records in the 400m racing.
Hurdman broke the 2017 record of 55.55 2017 owned by Caitlyn Ferrier from Hawkesbury High.
Perry broke the 2021 meet record of 50.75 set by Leon Schouten, St Joseph’s College in his race.

TOBY CAMILLERI’S OLYMPIC DREAM
It was a third straight All Schools win for field athletes Toby Camilleri in the boys javelin on Sunday.
The 16-year-old from Kingswood is already working towards his dream of representing Australia at a future Olympics - potentially in LA and Brisbane.
“It’s my dream, my end goal,’’ he said.
“I’m pretty serious about it. I work hard and I spend a lot of time in the gym working on my strength.’’

SIBLING ACT TAKE HOME THE GOODS
Coffs Harbour gun Hayley Kitching and her brother (Jade 16 years boys) both won their 1500M races on Sunday
Kitching is already recognised as a star in the making and heading to the US next year to pursue her athletics career.
Jade has set himself the goal of repeating his feat of winning the 1500 and 800m double at the Australian titles this year.

RHEMA ADELAJA ON GOLD MEDAL HUNT
It’s been two gold from two attempts for All Schools newcomer Rhema Adelaja.
Rhema won the 80m hurdles for 12 years on Sunday which followed on from her 100m victory on Saturday.
“I was my first medals because I was too young last year,’’ she said.
“I am hoping to get three.
“I love running and I love trying to get better and get PBS.’’
Rhema is scheduled to also race the 200m at the event which finishes at Sydney Olympic Park on Tuesday.

FIRST MEDAL A SURPRISE FOR AMELIA MAY
It was hard to wipe the smile off Amelia May’s face early in the day.
The 15-year-old youngster came up with a sensational win in the girls 1500m 16 years race - her first at All Schools.
May said she got more involved in athletics during Covid and is enjoying her time in the sport.
“I really surprised myself today,’’ she said.

TAMMIN LAMPRET STORMS HOME
Tamin Lamprett set herself the goal of winning the 14s hurdles and came up trumps.
“It’s my third starlight win in it,’’ she said after the victory.
A day earlier Tammin finished second in her 100m race.
