They missed out in week one, but there was no denying Mermaids Pink this time around at the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships. Relive all the U12, U16 finals action.

Mermaids Pink have pulled off the girls U12, U16 gold double at the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships, while Sydney Uni Blue (U12 boys) and SNB Breakers (U16 boys) have kept the NSW flag high with bold performances.

Mermaids Pink beat state rivals AHS Blue 7-3 in the U12 game before their older colleagues produced a stirring second half fightback to beat SNB Breakers 11-8.

Lucy Stuart scored five goals in the U16 decider while Sarah Cockburn and Georgia Joosep grabbed doubles as Mermaids Pink rallied from a halftime deficit to win 11-8.

Lilah Ogg gave the Breakers an early lead before Mermaids’ responded with three straight goals, including a double from Stuart.

Mermaids Pink are the U12 girls gold champions.

The Breakers stayed in touch before exploding with a five-goal second quarter to take a 7-6 lead.

The teams traded goals early in the third quarter and at 8-8 it was anyone’s game.

Mermaids though finished the stronger, scoring the last three goals, which included the final two of Stuart’s impressive haul.

Earlier, a fast start proved decisive for Mermaids Pink against AHS Blue in the U12 girls decider.

The first quarter featured two Mermaids goals, both from the hand of Joosep within a minute of each other.

They pushed their lead out to four goals before All Hallows hit back, but they were always playing catch up and never really looked capable of bridging the gap.

Sydney Uni Blue took the U12 boys gold decider.

Meanwhile, three unanswered final-quarter goals have lifted SNB Breakers to an 8-5 win over UQ Barras Purple in the U16 boys gold decider.

The two sides couldn’t be split over the opening three quarters - and there was all to play for at 5-5 entering the final six minutes of the match.

The Breakers made their move with a goal from Kosta Tsiaousis after just 18-seconds of play.

Lachlan Davies and Charlie Lewcock then added a second goal to each of their tallies as the clock ran down.

In the U12 boys decider, two goals from Jamie Irvine and singles from Thomas Penny and Hugh Morris in the third quarter powered Sydney Uni Blue past SNB Breakers.

The game had been tight up until that stage with two early goals from George Nixon giving Sydney Uni an advantage.
