The Tasmanians have been one of the stories of the tournament, having cruised through the regular rounds undefeated at the Australian Youth Championships.

The big finals win capped off another great day in the pool at the championships, which featured plenty of action from the 14-and-under boys divisions.

UWA Bears and Ryde Rhinos will head into the crossover stage of the 14-and-under boys championship riding a wave of momentum.

Both sides enjoyed lopsided wins on the final day of the regular rounds at the Australian Youth Water Polo Championship in Brisbane.

The Rhinos, who have been one of the form sides of the tournament, dispatched of Sydney rivals SNB Breakers 10-3 in the main pool at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

John Ziros maintained his impressive goal-scoring run with a hattrick as the Rhinos flew out of the blocks and were never caught by their rivals.

The Bears enjoyed a similar sizzling start outscoring River City 7-1 in the first half, before doubling down on their efforts to run away with a 15-2 result.

Thomas Gamble, who is sitting among the top goalscorers for the week-long tournament, added another four to his personal tally while Bryce Kyte finished with a hattrick.

A four-goal haul for Mantas Blue young gun Chase Staskiewicz has put the Queensland outfit in the driver’s seat heading into the crossover rounds of the 14-and-under boys division at the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships.

Staskiewicz scored late in the game to cut off a two-goal fight-back from rivals Melbourne Collegians and cement Mantas spot in the top half of the table after the regular rounds with an 11-9 win.

It was a strong fight back from the Queensland side, who faced a two-goal deficit at quarter-time following an explosive start from the Collegians.

However the Mantas rallied well with a four-goal second term, before they eventually took the lead in the third quarter when Staskiewicz found the back of the net with his third goal.

Leon Vidal led the way for the Collegians with an impressive five goals, taking his tournament tally to 10.

Richmond have improved their placing in the Under-14 boys division with a thrilling two point win over Hunter Hurricanes.

The Victorian outfit exploded out of the blocks with a goal in the opening minute of the Australian Youth Championships showdown, and we’re never headed from their holding out their rivals for a 9-7 result.
