Former Olympic gold medallist Glynis Nunn OAM was among a host of award winners and hall of fame inductees at the Little Athletics Australia Hall of Fame ceremony.
Nunn, who was the first woman to win Olympic gold in the heptathlon at the 1986 Olympics, was awarded life membership to Little Athletics Australia during Friday night’s ceremony.
The track and field trailblazer was awarded life membership for her years of volunteer work with the Little Athletics program including one-on-one coaching at Ashmore Little Athletics, coaching development at a national level as well as acting as national convenor of the Little Athletics national camp.

Nunn, who has been involved with Little Athletics for more than 20 years at many levels, said it was a proud moment to receive the award.
“It is pretty special, it is nice to be recognised for all the work I have put in, the efforts I have done and the voice that I have been for Little Athletics,” Nunn said.
“You never do anything for the recognition, but it is nice to be acknowledged that you have put a lot of time and effort in. People realise that and it is just nice.”

Nunn was not the only Little Athletics Australia awarded life membership on Friday night with long time contributor and last year’s volunteer of the year, Heather Mitchell, also being bestowed with the organisation’s highest honour.
There was a number of sports stars inducted into the Little Athletics Hall of Fame at the ceremony including track and field stars Jemima Montag and Rheed McCracken.
Matildas midfield star Caitlin Foord and Geelong Cats premiership winner Mark Blicavs were both inducted into the sportsperson category while famed radio personality Jason ‘Richo’ Richardson was inducted into the achiever category.
Dedicated volunteers Teresa Blackman and Andrew Duncan were the final two nominees inducted into the Hall of Fame in the volunteer category.
