A shock loss to start the final day of the Sapsasa Country Soccer Carnival was not enough to throw Gawler from their quest of being crowned boys division one champions.
The Gawler side hit a minor roadblock in their quest when they went down to Riverland 1-0 in the opening game on Friday, but it would be the side’s only loss all week as they powered back with wins over Barossa and Light and Barker.

Gawler finished the tournament with a 7-1 record, trailed closely by a willing Hills side who picked up six wins and a draw from their eight matches.
Lower Eyre Peninsula took out the girls country title after they also finished the week-long tournament undefeated.
Lower Eyre Peninsula powered past rivals Lower South East in their opening game on Friday before recording wins over Pirie and Barker to close out the tournament on a high note.
Gawler finsihed runners-up in the girls division one tournament despite only picking up an extra point on the final day of the tournament through a draw against Riverland.

DAY 2 WRAP + REPLAYS
Barker rescued a crucial 1-1 draw against rival region Pirie to keep their hopes of winning the Girls Div 1 crown at the Sapsasa Country Soccer Carnival alive.
The drawn result, which kicked off a big day of action on field three on Thursday, means Barker will head into Friday’s final day of games only one point adrift of ladder leaders Lower Eyre Peninsula.
Whyalla also firmed as one of the front-runners in the race for the boys division two title after scorching rivals Murray-Mallee on Thursday.
Whyalla were near perfect on goal, racking up a huge 11-1 win over their rivals.
Lower Eyre Peninsula had a mxied second day of the Country Soccer Carnival, picking up a strong win over Mid North before going down to a handy Barker side.
In a high-scoring duel on field three, Barker enjoyed a flurry of opportunities on goal in the second half and capitalised to secure a 5-3 win over their rivals.

Barossa and Light have capped off a rollercoaster opening day of the Sapsasa Country Soccer Carnival with a dominant win over Upper South East.
The Barossa and Light Div 1 boys side split their results on the opening day of the tournament at ServiceFM Stadium, closing out the action with back to back wins, downing Lower Eyre Peninsula 5-1 before their 6-1 win over Upper South East.
It was a strong bounce back for the side after they had earlier gone down to rivals Hills 3-2.
Hills finished the day undefeated, sitting side-by-side with Riverland on top of the boys Division 1 standings after the pair could not be split in a 1-1 draw.
Southern Fleurieu girls capped off a huge opening day’s action with a big 6-1 win over Mid South East to ensure they head into the second day of the carnival undefeated in the girls Division 2 standings.
The exclusive KommunityTV live stream coverage will continue on day two of the tournament with undefeated girls Division 1 side Pirie kicking off the field three action against Barker.

SA country’s stars of the future are set to clash for silverware in this week’s Sapsasa country soccer carnival.
Boys and girls teams representing the state’s top country soccer regions such as Barossa and Light, Barker, Gawler, Upper South East, Mid South East and the Riverland will battle it out across three days of action from Wednesday with the hopes of claiming the ultimate prize on Friday.
You can watch all the action from Services FM Stadium LIVE and EXCLUSIVE right here from 9.30am on Wednesday.
The action will also begin at 9.30 on Thursday and Friday, with each game taking 45-minute timeslots.
Boys division two will kick-off the week’s action as Southern Fleurieu take on Northern, with Barossa and Light vs Hills in boys division one to follow shortly after.
A big division one matchup between the Riverland and Lower South East girls will headline proceedings on Thursday, while the division one boys clash between the Mid North and Lower Eyre Peninsula will also be one to watch.
Presentations will be held at the end of Friday’s action.
