Basketball Australia Schools Championships live stream: Meet the St Luke's Grammar School girls (School Championships)

They may have the youngest roster at the Basketball Australia Schools Championships, but St Luke’s Grammar are ready to shock the country. We profile the girls ahead of the huge tournament.

One of Australia’s top junior basketball tournaments is back, and one school from NSW is keen to make its mark against the best in the country.

St Luke’s Grammar School heads up the local charge in the Championship Women’s division at the Basketball Australia Schools Championships, which start on the Gold Coast on Monday, November 28.

You can watch their progress over the five days of the tournament LIVE on KommunityTV. Their first game is on Monday morning on Court 2 against Melbourne’s Rowville College at 1pm (AEDT). They have two games on Tuesday against Adelaide’s Immanuel College (Show Court) and Queensland’s Hillcrest (Court 2).

The girls from Dee Why boast one of the youngest rosters in the competition, but they won’t let that stop them from taking it to some of Australia’s most elite underage talent.

“We won a bronze medal a couple of years ago,” director of sport Craig Baker said.

“During the Covid years we haven’t been able to see the progression as we have previously.

“Our roster is definitely the youngest as far as experience, but we’ve got some shooters and we know when we’re hot we can compete with most teams.

“There’s the potential there for this team to do well.”

Club: Manly-Warringah

Bailey has an array of post moves and great touch around the basket.

FELICITY HENDERSON

Combo guard/forward

Club: Manly-Warringah

Captain and leader of the team who is the ultimate all-rounder, playing the positions 1-5, she does a bit of everything. Felicity (Fliss) will be attending Columbia University in New York to play in the Ivy League next year.

SOPHIE DIX

Guard

Club: Manly-Warringah

A talented guard who is one of the younger girls on the side but brings shooting and tenacity on defence.

TEAGAN HARDAKER

Forward

Club: Manly-Warringah

She has shown considerable improvement over the course of the year and brings and energy to the team that is infectious.

ABBEY HUSH

Guard

Club: Manly-Warringah

Abbey plays both guard roles and is another young talent on the team who brings suffocating defence and a high basketball IQ.

CHLOE DIX

Guard

Club: Manly-Warringah

A starting guard, Chloe has had a fantastic representative year. She is one of the senior players who provides exceptional leadership and has an elite offensive skill set.

SIENNA MORISON

Guard

Club: Manly-Warringah

The starting point guard and one of three graduating year 12 players in the team. Sienna is an elite defender and our floor general who always plays team first basketball.

ANGELINA MORISON

Small Forward

Club: Manly-Warringah

Another of the year 12 students. Starting at the small forward position. Angelina (Nina) is an elite shooter and also a great senior leader of the team.

AISHA GREMMO

Forward

Club: Manly-Warringah

A forward, Aisha is a terrific role player and does whatever is needed for the team, she finishes well at the basket and also brings a great deal of energy off the bench.

TARA HOLLYOAK

Forward

Club: Manly-Warringah

Tara is a supremely athletic forward who runs the floor well in transition and plays

aggressive intensity in defence. She has come along in leaps and bounds and provides a spark off the bench for the team.

AZANIAH AFUALO

Forward

Club: Norths

Azaniah is a forward who is athletic and has a great skill set. She is aggressive in

offence and loves to attack the basket. Azaniah will also be representing Samoa in the FIBA Oceania U15s Championships.

The NSW flag will be flown in the boys division by Newington College. Their roster for the tournament is: Jasper Walsh, Jesse Weinsten, London Toalepai, Jake Weinstein, Samuel Lewis, Joel Lyons, Christian Aukuso, Matteo Cleverley, Jack Jones, William Spencer, James Burrard, Goc Malek.
