PREVIEW: East and west fight it out for Shield supremacy

MacKillop College Werribee and Padua College Mornington will go head-to-head in a massive senior Herald Sun Shield division two Grand Final on Wednesday.

The action begins at 2pm via the KommunityTV live stream with players set to leave everything on the line with some playing their schools for the last time.

MacKillop College Werribee is representing the Sports Association of Catholic Co-educational Secondary Schools (SACCSS), while Padua College came through as the best team from the Southern Independent Schools (SIS) association.

While MacKillop College already progressed through to the Grand Final without playing a semi-final last week, Padua College had to win in order to make it in.

And Padua did so magnificently winning by a whopping 96 points over a combined team representing Christian Schools Events Network (CSEN).

Padua came out firing in the game with a 56-0 at quarter-time which set them up for glory.

Jake Mones will be a player to watch after he kicked seven goals in a best on ground display last week.

For MacKillop College, they are set to be a challenge having won seven SACCSS Senior Football premierships in the past 23 years - 2000, 2006, 2009, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2022.

Amazingly, each of these wins came against arch rivals Salesian College Sunbury.

The school from Werribee will also pose a threat as 15 of their players also combine for their club side Werribee Districts.

MacKillop have also shown their success by producing AFL players in Majak Daw (North Melbourne) and Jack Fitzpatrick (Melbourne & Hawthorn).

They were both a part of the Catholic All Schools premiership in 2009, defeating Notre Dame College Shepparton at Assumption College.
