Trainer Gerald Ryan believes Arctic Glamour can take advantage of two key factors when his speedy mare takes on list of spring heavyweights in Saturday’s Group 2 $300,000 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.
Ryan is hoping Arctic Glamour can go one better in her second spring run after finishing a narrow second in the Missile Stakes last month and he reckons she will have conditions to suit.
“It’s a harder race than what she ran in the other day but the two things in her favour will be the firm track and the weight on her back,” Ryan, who trains with Sterling Alexiou, said.
“She doesn’t cop a penalty so with 53kg she gets in well.
“There are going to be horses like Amelia’s Jewel in it and a couple of those older geldings, they are always tough to beat but I am confident she is going to run really well.”

Comeback mare Amelia’s Jewel was $2.80 into $2.10 for favouritism for the Tramway Stakes with the final field to be declared on Wednesday morning.
Arctic Glamour ($6) was the outright second pick and has continued to thrive since her slashing runner up behind Schwarz at Group 2 level last month with Kerrin McEvoy aboard.
With McEvoy in Melbourne to ride Coleman in the Group 1 $750,000 Moir Stakes, Tyler Schiller will take over this weekend.

“Kerrin told us after the first-up run that he was likely to be in Melbourne so we chased Tyler down,” Ryan said.
“Tyler has come in and ridden a couple of times since her first up run and he had ridden her work before anyway.
“I was saying (on Tuesday) to one of her owners, her work Friday morning when Tyler rode her and again this morning was really good.
“Just watching her, her action was good and being back on firm ground.”
Arctic Glamour is a four-year-old so she’s eligible to run in the $10m Golden Eagle (1500m) this spring but Ryan doesn’t plan on targeting the race.
He’s set to capitalise on Sydney’s cashed-up spring elsewhere with the $2m The Invitation (1400m) among the options available.
A date with the Group 2 $400,000 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 28 is also on the agenda.
