TJ Smith Stakes winner Chain Of Lightning has been retired after slow start to the spring

Eye-catching grey Chain Of Lightning, a surprise winner of this year’s Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes, has been retired.
Trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman advised Racing Victoria stewards on Tuesday that the talented daughter of Fighting Sun had run her last race after a disappointing start to the spring.
Chain Of Lightning was well off the pace in two starts this preparation and will need take up a spot in the breeding barn at Yulong.
The six-year-old sprinter enjoyed her finest moment on track earlier this year when she saluted as a $21 outsider in the TJ Smith Stakes during The Championships at Royal Randwick.

She had been raced by Stuart Ramsey before sold for a massive $2.5m sum at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast in May.
Chain Of Lightning had started her career in the bush with Stirling Osland before moving to Victoria and finishes her career with a record of eight wins and three placings from 25 starts.
