Replay: Recap all the action from the U15 Australian hockey championships

The action was fast and furious at the Australian U15 Hockey Championships. Replay every streamed match from day one.

There are 11 matches being live streamed from Bathurst today as the 2021 Australian under 15 boys and girls championships kick off.

Today’s streams will be split into two, with action from the Hybrid 1 Arena streamed in the player above, and games from Water 1 Arena in the video below.

Scroll down to check which games are being played at which arena throughout the day, and check out the rolling match reports as each game finishes.

The championships throw a spotlight on the rising stars of the sport and the youngsters who will one day represent the Hockeyroos and the Kookaburras in the international arena.

Western Australia Gold beat NSW for the gold medal in the boys competition the last time these championships were held back in 2019 after the coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 event.

At the 2019 tournament the bronze medal was won by Queensland Maroon.

All three of these teams are expected to be vying for the silverware again at the 2021 tournament.

The girls competition in 2019 was won by Victoria with Western Australia Gold picking up the silver and NSW the bronze.

In all 23 teams from NSW, ACT, WA, Tasmania, Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia and Victoria - 12 girls and 11 boys teams - will be playing at the event.

REPLAY: National U15's Girls Hockey Championships - VIC vs WA Black

U15 girls, Pool A: VIC 3 — WA 2

This Pool A match in the girls competition kicked off the tournament in Bathurst.

Victoria went into the match as defending champions after their win at the last national championships in 2019 but came up against a side with their own aspirations to be among the medallists.

Zoe Klopak had the honour of scoring the first goal of the entire tournament just three minutes into the game.

Lotte Keogh equaled the score for WA off a penalty stroke in the 30th to send the teams into halftime locked at 1-1.

A patient Victoria went ahead again in the 42nd courtesy of a nice field goal from Maggie Mahony.

Bianca Zurrer extended Victoria’s lead to 3-1 off a penalty corner in the 53rd minute before Ella Frost’s field goal in the 56th kept WA within striking range at 2-3.

But Victoria were able to thwart any other attempts at goal to take the match 3-2.

REPLAY: National Girls U15's Hockey Championships - TAS vs NSW Blue

U15 girls, Pool A: NSWB 5 — TAS 0

In this second Pool A contest of the girls competition on a clear Friday morning, Maggie Thompson opened the scoring off a penalty corner awarded to the NSW Blues in the 11th minute.

The NSW Blues side dominated possession in the first half but were unable to slip another through the Tasmanian defence until the 19th when Katelyn Bates fired in a field goal.

Leading 2-0 at halftime, the NSW side looked threatening on a number of occasions before Sienna Harvey slotted in from the field in the 43rd minute to put her side up 3-0.

In a brilliant finish to the game, teammate Macey Fulton then scored a field goal in the 47th and off a penalty corner in the 56th to deliver NSW a resounding 5-0 win and great start to the tournament.

REPLAY: National U15's Boys Hockey Championships - QLD Maroons vs WA Black

U15 boys, Pool B: QLDM 8 — WAB 0

Queensland Maroon were medallists at the last national championships and keen to show they plan to repeat the feat in 2021. And that’s exactly what they did.

Against Western Australia Black the Queenslanders struck early, with Cooper McKenzie scoring a wonderful field goal just five minutes into the match.

It was the first of two first half field goals for the Queensland youngster who also scored in the 26th and then just two minutes later off a penalty corner.

Teammates Jacob Wilson (field goal) and Kaleb Benney (penalty corner) helped the score blow out to 5-0 with Max Montgomery firing in from the field to see his side break at halftime with an extraordinary 6-0 lead.

In the second half Matthew Hawthorne contributed a field goal in the 54th with Benney converting again off a penalty corner in the 57th to deliver the thumping 8-0 victory.

“We are very happy with that. It’s been a tricky leadup to the tournament with COVID,” QLD coach Nathan Doherty said.

“The boys were really excited to take the field.

“We didn’t get our camp in so we only had two trainjng session yesterday so there was a lot of excitement to play someone.”

REPLAY: National U15's Boys Hockey Championships - NSW State vs VIC Development

U15 boys, Pool B: NSWS 5 — VIC Dev 1

NSW have high expectations of being among the medals this year and got their campaign off to a good start on Friday.

Kalani Franklin was the first to put his name on the scoresheet with a field goal just two minutes into the match against the Victoria Development side.

Joshua Robson then added to the scoreline with a field goal in the 17th minute for NSW.

But it’s wasn’t all one way traffic, with Victorian Angus Le shooting in a field goal in the 41st.

NSW added more points in the 50th thanks to captain and Sydney East player Oscar Smith, in the 54th off a Jared Findley field goal and two minutes later via Kane Nutley to give NSW the 5-1 start to the tournament.

“We are expecting them to put in a solid performance,” Hockey NSW Pathway manager Richard Willis said.

“The score blew out in the last quarter. Probably a bit flattering for us actually.

“There’s a little bit to work on from our team still structurally and with decision making.

“But it’s day one and you never win or loose a tournament on the first day.”

REPLAY: National U15's Girls Hockey Championships - NSW State vs NT

U15 girls, Pool B: NSWS 3 — NT 0

The NSW Team won a bronze at the last nationals and are very keen to improve in 2021.

In a low scoring first half, NSW put first points on the board thanks to a field goal from Lani Woodger in the 11th minute.

The NT defence thwarted the NSW girls scoring again until the 49th minute when Martina Williams slotted in a field goal.

Makenna Barnett-Suey extended the scoreline to 3-0 after converting off a penalty corner.

REPLAY: National U15's Girls Hockey Championships - Qld Gold vs VIC Development

U15 girls, Pool B: QLDG 4 — VIC Dev 0

A young Queenslander was a standout player of early games at the Australian Under 15 championships.

Tammin Andrews scored a brilliant trifecta in the Queensland Gold’s outing against Victoria Development on Friday at Bathurst.

The teen talent slammed her first in just two minutes into the match and then replicated the feat in the 20th minute.

She stunned with a third goal in the 36th minute.

Amelia Wilson also contributed to the convincing 4-0 win with her penalty corner conversion in the 50th.

REPLAY: National U15's Girls Hockey Championships - WA Gold vs ACT

U15 girls, Pool B: WAG 7 — ACT 0

The Western Australian Gold team went on a goal scoring rampage in their first outing of the tournament.

Players scored six field goals in their 7-0 win over the ACT.

Scoreless until the 18th minute, the Western Australia gold side then made up for the slowish start.

Eliza Swain scored from the field in the 18th minute, Mischa Rodier in the 32nd minute and again in the 36th. Ellie Samsa put points on the scoreboard in the 40th with Sienna Robinson then scoring back-to-back goals in the 48th and 54th minute.

Seraphina Andrews contributed with a penalty corner conversion in the 58th.

U15 boys, Pool A: VIC 2 — QLD Gold 0

U15 Girls, Pool A, Vic 7 def SA 0

Victoria dominated this clash against South Australia with two goals scored in the opening 15 minutes of the game.

Maggie Mahony was the first to put her name on the score sheet in the 11th minute.

Zoe Klopak followed suit just four minutes later off a penalty corner.

Both players also scored goals in their first match of the tournament against Western Australia early on Friday.

Mahony then put her name on the scoreboard for the third time in a day with a goal in the 32 minutes.

More goals from Elise Fitzpatrick, Ella Croxall, Bailey Wallace and Klopak followed for Victoria who have claimed early favouritism for the title this year with their top form and the 7-0 win.

U15 Girls: Queensland Maroon 4 v Tasmania 0

Tasmania were left scoreless in this afternoon encounter.

Mela Crick scored first for Queensland in the 13th off a penalty corner.

Lily Richardson scores from the field in the 26th minute with Kara Bradley also accurate in the 45th.

Finals points came from Sophia Papantoniou off a corner in the 51st to deliver the 4-0 win.

U15 girls: Pool A – Western Australia 1 def NSW 0

In the final livestream match of a long day at Bathurst, the Western Australians scored first from the field thanks to the accuracy of Isabelle Hampson.

It turned out to be the only goal of a low scoring encounter with NSW unable to find the back of the net in either half.

Hampson scored in the 19th minute of the match.

Congratulations to all teams on players on a brilliant and exciting first day of competition.
