South Australian soccer fans are doing their best to fill the void by the recently cancelled A-League and the top European leagues.
Through their search, they’ve stumbled across the Belarusian Premier League and decided to pick up a team and ran with it.
Adelaide United supporter Todd Stansborough, along with some friends, had started a page dedicated to one of the league’s underdogs, FC Slutsk, which currently sits third after the season started this past weekend.
Following the club’s first game of the season, Stansborough started the Facebook group called ‘FC Slutsk worldwide’ which has already grown by the hundreds overnight.
“We decided on them as they were playing in the first game on Sunday night,” Stansborough said.
“After watching the first game and discovering our love for the club we decided to make a Facebook group, and after a few quick shares across popular football groups the numbers rose to 200 over night.”
Yet, the group has moved beyond South Australia, with people from across the country and various other nations getting involved.
No football in Australia means that we've chosen a new team to support. FK Slutsk!

“People from many countries have already joined including from New Zealand, England, Norway and even Belarus itself,” he said.
At home, the A-League is accessible to watch through Fox Sports and Kayo, but the Belarusian Premier League is hard to view, but the group found a way to watch their new side.
“It’s not the most accessible league in the world to watch, but it is able to be streamed through various betting accounts,” Stansborough added.

The Facebook group has also inquired with the club, which was founded in 1998, regarding merchandise, but said they’re waiting for a return comment.
