The Brisbane Lions may be in hot water once again as images emerge of former star player Mitch Robinson posing alongside a man accused of attempted murder.
Robinson, who announced his exit from the game in September, met US rapper Blueface during an overseas trip with his former teammates.
The ex-midfielder documented his travels abroad to Los Angeles and Las Vegas in a YouTube clip posted around the same time as his photo with the rapper.
“I booked a last minute trip to the states, I somehow got the green light off the missus to go over just after the Lions Best and Fairest,” Robinson, 33, said.
“I hopped on a long ass 13 hour flight to LA by myself to catch the lads for a few nights, watched some Basketball then ended up at Las Vegas.”
He described the trip as one of the best of his career.
The nature of Robinson’s relationship with the rapper is unclear.
TMZ reported the rapper’s arrest in Las Vegas on Wednesday Pacific Standard Time after it obtained legal documents related to an incident on October 8.
Blueface was charged with one count of felony attempted murder with the use of a deadly firearm or tear gas and an additional charge of discharging a gun into a house, building, vehicle or craft.
The rapper, 25, had spate of run-ins with the law of late. Just last month he was accused of domestic violence by his girlfriend.
Robinson, 33, was no stranger to controversy during his time with the AFL.
Robinson joined the Lions in 2014 after he was delisted by Carlton for attempting to mislead the club about a late-night punch-up in Melbourne which left him with a broken eye socket.
The 33-year-old opted to retire after learning his club of 14 years would not offer him a new contract in 2023. His announcement came with a parting shot aimed at Coach Chris Fagan.
“Devastated that Fages wouldn’t allow me to announce this in person to the supporters and my teammates, but I guess that’s footy,” he said in a post to social media.
Robinson has been approached for comment.
