SuperCoach BBL late mail: Squads and player news ahead of Round 3
It’s taken until Round 3, but a big signing in the off-season will make his Stars debut. But a technicality has meant the current leading wicket taker has been axed - after a match-winning five wicket haul.

Don't miss out on the headlines from SuperCoach BBL. Followed categories will be added to My News.
It’s not often that the leading wicket taker in the competition gets dropped after taking a five wicket haul.
But marquee signing Dale Steyn has forced Stars’ hand after it was announced he will make his Stars’ debut against the Strikers on Friday night.
Haris Rauf has been a revelation since he stepped into the Stars line-up as an injury replacement, bagging seven wickets including a matchwinning five wicket haul against the Hurricanes, which netted the Pakistani a whopping 156 points.
However, BBL franchises are only allowed to have two international players in their squad at the one time, with Nepalese spinner Sandeep Lamichhane the other signing currently on their books.
The technicality means Rauf has been squeezed out despite currently wearing the golden cap.
SCROLL DOWN TO SEE ROUND 3 SQUADS
Rauf price has risen more than any player in SuperCoach, soaring $62.6k across his two matches.
It gives his eight per cent of owners a selection headache ahead of Round 3 with many SuperCoaches already using their trades.
SQUADS NAMED FOR SCORCHERS, STRIKERS
The squads are in for the Scorchers and Strikers – who both have a double game week in Round 3 – and there is sure to be plenty of names SuperCoaches will be keeping a close eye on.
Paceman Matt Kelly will miss again with illness and has been replaced in the squad by keeper-batsman Sam Whiteman.
It means cheapie Joel Paris is likely to get another look-in and places more onus on T20 star Chris Jordan to perform with the ball. It also could see all-rounder Mitch Marsh getting more overs.
For the Strikers Peter Siddle (Test squad) will miss despite missing out to fellow Victorian James Pattinson for a Boxing Day call-up. Spinner Liam O’Connor has been named as his replacement.
CHEAPIES NAMED FOR RENEGADES
Potential cash cows Marcus Harris and Jake Fraser-McGurk have been added to the Renegades’ squad to face the Hurricanes tomorrow night.
The axed Test opener is priced at $62.5k in SuperCoach has been kept out of the side following the strong form of Sam Harper. Meanwhile, Fraser-McGurk could make his Big Bash debut and can be selected for just $42k. as a batsman or a bowler. Wait until teams XI’s are named at the bat flip tomorrow night before making a call on the pair
Harris (15 per cent) and Fraser-McGurk (22 per cent) have been sitting of plenty of SuperCoach benches over the opening rounds

HIGH PRICED ALL-ROUNDERS NOT BOWLING
Marcus Stoinis and D’Arcy Short set us back an arm and a leg after strong campaigns last season.
But so far the pair have bowled just one over between them across each of their first two games.
It seems both the Stars and Hurricanes have too many bowling options at their disposal for the pair to have a trundle.
Considering Stoinis posted a formidable score of 123 with the bat in his last game, it would be a knee-jerk reaction to trade him out. However some coaches may look to move Short on following his 11-point outing – despite scoring just shy of a SuperCoach ton in Round 1.
