Moneyball: Latest contract, trade news on Ollie Wines, Toby Nankervis, Jordan De Goey

He’s a two-time premiership ruckman, but Toby Nankervis has been usurped by Ivan Soldo at Punt Road. Will the Tigers big man have to look elsewhere for greater opportunity?

Nathan Broad was close to signing a new multi-year contract at Richmond before the coronavirus pause, but has pledged his future to the Tigers.

He is one of the few uncontracted premiership players at Punt Rd, with the biggest watch on Toby Nankervis who might struggle for regular game time given most clubs will only play one ruckman this season.

Ruck/forward Callum Coleman-Jones is the youngster on the rise and is signed up despite GWS having a crack at him last trade period.

So despite two premierships in four years at the Tigers, Nankervis’s contract has plenty to play out.

He might have to find a first-ruck spot at a rival club.

WINES SET TO INTEREST BLUES, BOMBERS AGAIN

Ollie Wines’ significant contract might be the only thing that keeps him at Port Adelaide next year.

He spoke with both Carlton and Essendon last year and the Power’s former co-captain and is again out of the side after a coronavirus breach.

He is signed at the Power until the end of 2022 on excellent money, with Essendon keen last year but Wines wanting to get to Carlton.

No doubt both clubs will have interest again and Essendon would have pushed even harder if Orazio Fantasia hadn’t pulled back when about to request a trade last year.

But they will have to find significant cap space or restructure his deal.

Wines told the Herald Sun recently “at this stage” he was happy staying, but admitted he felt the pull of Melbourne given his siblings all lived together there.

COLLINGWOOD CONTRACT LATEST

Adam Treloar is hopeful he might return to football next week after a busy summer that included a new baby and a left-field trade approach from Gold Coast.

While Collingwood still hasn’t announced his new contract, Treloar is locked away until 2025 after signing a fresh four-year extension last year.

When the Pies considered how they might secure the Suns’ No. 1 overall pick last October the only two names Gold Coast wanted were Jordan De Goey and Treloar.

He wasn’t going anywhere, having already done the hard yards at a rebuilding club in Greater Western Sydney.

The Suns moved on to draft Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson.

There are different reports on how well Treloar received that trade request, but he is now happy to chalk it up to flattery.

Treloar was co-managed by Vivid Sports pair Peter Blucher and Tim Hazell, with ex-Hawk Hazell now taking over his full-time operations.

Treloar is returning from hamstring and calf issues and will push for a return in Round 3 but might need one more week to come up for AFL action.

He and his partner Kim Ravaillion had a daughter Georgie in March, with the AFL stand-down allowing him to put his energies into family time.

Player managers are no closer to finding out who will manage De Goey as he eyes a fat contract past 2020.

He hasn’t even returned calls from some managers, while others believe running his operations would effectively be a full-time job and not worth the hassle.

In essence they might lose rival clients because they are working so hard on his management.

Good mate Dane Swan says he wants to stay and De Goey has stated it publicly but neither the player or the Pies are in any hurry given no contracts can be signed.

Dayne Beams will at some stage strike a settlement with the Pies on his contract but no one seems in any particular hurry.
