DAN Hannebery gave St Kilda’s youngsters a pleasant surprise when the star recruit joined them for the first day of pre-season.
Hannebery, 27, was not due to start training for another two weeks but was so keen to meet his new teammates he rocked up at Moorabbin without notice.

The three-time All-Australian introduced himself to club staff and was eager to soak up the details scrawled across the Saints’ club rooms.
While Hannebery will not complete every training session with the club’s first to fourth-year players, his premature arrival was appreciated.

Hannebery will skip the club’s 3km time trial at Bricker Reserve. Paddy McCartin, who has bulked up during the break, will also miss the time trial because the fitness staff has restricted the spearhead to only running on grass.
Jack Steele is another non-starter due to illness, although emerging star Jade Gresham is in good health and set to participate.
Jack Billings and Daniel McKenzie are on their way back to Australia after spending the weekend in Shanghai as St Kilda prepares for next year’s home game in China against Port Adelaide.
