INSPIRATIONAL Geelong captain Joel Selwood has struggled and it left Cats legend Cameron Ling wondering if he might have come back too soon from the shocking syndesmosis injury he suffered against Sydney in early August.
Selwood hasn’t played in just over a month and might be lacking the fitness to handle the pressure of a final as large as this — he only had seven touches to half-time.
“We marvelled at the fact Joel Selwood got up for tonight,” Cameron Ling said on Channel Seven.

SELWOOD RETURN: ‘MAYBE IT WAS TOO SOON’
“We have to ask the question when he has had five touches, sitting on the bench, had no influence whatsoever just how sore he is coming into this game and whether or not it turns out to be the right move to have played the skipper.
“Maybe it was too soon.”
Selwood finished with 18 disposals for the match.

THAT’S NOT A FREE KICK: BROWN
JONATHAN Brown says a free kick for shepherding awarded against Jack Riewoldt that cost Richmond a goal should have been “play on”.
WHEN Bachar Houli banged one through with a minute and a half to go in the first term, the Tigers would have been 20 points up.
But Riewoldt clashed bodies with Tom Lonergan as the ball sailed through and umpire Shane McInerney awarded the free kick against him.
“Jack clearly had his eyes on the ball,” Brown said on Fox Footy.
“No free kick... that is play on.”

Still can't believe a free-kick was paid against Riewoldt for that shepherd #horribledecision #AFLCatsTigers #AFLFinals

YEAH, I FELT LIKE SUCH AN IDIOT: RANCE
ALEX Rance’s run in with Harry Taylor’s knee and subsequent barney with his own trainer sent social media into a spin on Friday night
The trainer approached and an angry Rance shrugged him off and gave him some choice words, before having insult added to injury, sent off by the umpire with the blood rule.
Twitter users did not take kindly to his effort.
Following the game, the Tigers ace said he had apologised for throwing a tantram.
“Oh no, that was on the big screen too, what am I thinking,” he told 3AW.
“Yeah, I felt like such an idiot. I was a bit rattled, claret pissing out of my head.
“I have apologised.”

WHY WASN’T IT AT SIMONDS?
There are a few Cat fans who aren’t happy that the game is played at the ‘G and not Geelong, but they obviously haven’t seen the ridiculous size of this crowd — it’s surely over 95,000, and most of them appear to be Tigers’ fans.
