CONTRACTED Melbourne forward Jack Watts says he is still undecided on his AFL future as speculation rises on his move to Port Adelaide.
“Obviously, it is a tough decision,” Watts said on arriving in Adelaide on Friday afternoon for team-mate Bernie Vince’s wedding this weekend.
Watts is strongly linked to Port Adelaide after the Power has scored free-agency wins for Brisbane midfielder Tom Rockliff and Geelong forward-midfielder Steven Motlop.
Asked to confirm reports he has chosen Port Adelaide ahead of Sydney or Geelong, Watts said: “No, no I haven’t.
“I’m sure it (the decision) will come in the next week or so,” added Watts who has until Thursday afternoon to choose a new team or stay on contract with the Demons.
“I think it will work out for the best. There’s a few clubs I am thinking about ... (but) there’s a few things to play out first. There’s a bit to happen. Wait and see.”
Watts has two years to serve on his contract at Melbourne. Port Adelaide says it can absorb Watts in its once-questioned salary cap.
Port Adelaide football chief Chris Davies dismissed reports Watts already has declared his decision to the Power.
“That is not the case; he faces a big decision to uproot his life (from Melbourne),” Davies said. “We’re comfortable with where we are at. We have put our best foot forward and expect there will be an answer early next week.”
