CONTRACTED Port Adelaide forward Jarman Impey has made his go-home move to rebuilding AFL powerhouse Hawthorn.

Impey, 22, is the first Power player moved out of Alberton in the AFL trade period with Port Adelaide scoring the Hawks’ second-round draft pick (No. 33) and swapping draft picks to close the deal.

Port Adelaide scores picks 33 and fourth-round 61 for next month’s draft and Hawthorn’s fourth-round call in next year’s player lottery. The Hawks get the Power’s fourth-round (No. 67) pick in this year’s draft.

Speedster Impey had a year to serve on his contract, but was part of a strategic raid from Hawthorn noting the Victorian’s wish to return home after a difficult year in which his father died and he was caught in the headlines with a car crash at Norwood in December.

He signs a three-year deal with Hawthorn.

Impey played 75 AFL games in four season with Port Adelaide after being second-round draft call (No. 21) in 2013.

Originally a defender, Impey was tried in the Power attack this year — and is seen as a defender by Hawthorn.

Port Adelaide still has midfielder Brendon Ah Chee (West Coast) and specialist forward Aaron Young (Gold Coast) seeking trades to clubs where they believe they will have more opportunity to be regular AFL players.

Contracted ruckman Matthew Lobbe is again being linked to a trade to a Queensland-based AFL club, Brisbane or Gold Coast.

Port Adelaide is still waiting for Geelong free-agent Steven Motlop and contracted Melbourne key position player Jack Watts to answer the Power’s offers to add them to Ken Hinkley’s roster.

Motlop has Adelaide and Gold Coast as his other suitors. Watts has to consider Sydney and Geelong beyond Port Adelaide.

The trade period closes at 1.30pm next Thursday.
