Mitch Duncan R2, 2016

We can laugh about it now, but Geelong midfielder Mitch Duncan was lucky to walk away from the mother of all Shane Mumford tackles in 2016. Duncan was running with the flight of the ball in the middle of Manuka Oval when the Giants ruckman arrived with a full head of steam.

Kurt Tippett R12, 2016

Double-whammy. Not only did Tippett try to duck under Mumford only for his head crash into his opposite number’s shoulder, but the Giant continued the tackle, slamming the rattled Swan into the deck.

Andrew Swallow R23, 2016

They don’t come much tougher than Swallow but even he was no match for Mumford at full speed. The collision knocked the ball out of Swallow’s grasp, but to his credit, the former Kangaroos skipper played on.

Max Gawn R20, 2017

Once again, this could have been a lot worse for both parties. Mumford was suspended for one match after clobbering Gawn with a stray shoulder to the head.

Tom Liberatore R6, 2017

Libba’s premiership hangover took on a new dimension in Round 6 when Mumford rode him into the ground at Manuka Oval. Liberatore spent some time on the ground before he was helped off the field.
