Gold Coast midfielder Aaron Hall in no rush to sign new deal with Suns as he focuses on family life

SPEEDY Gold Coast midfielder Aaron Hall has revealed he has bigger things on his mind than signing a new deal with Gold Coast and is likely to weigh up his playing future and family life later in the year.

TOM Lynch’s uncertain future may be creating a ripple effect at the Suns with out-of-contract midfielder Aaron Hall revealing he was also in no rush to start talks on a new deal.

Hall has endured a rollercoaster ride at the Suns.

At times he has received harsh feedback from his teammates about lapses on team defensive ethics and criticisms from coaching staff about his contested work.

The most recent confrontation came this off-season.

At others he has been one of the most exciting players in the competition due to his line-breaking ability.

Gold Coast had considered offering Hall for trade last year but quickly shelved those plans when fellow speedster Adam Saad declared he wanted to return to Melbourne for family reasons.

It was widely reported Hall was on the trade table and that may be behind his preparedness to postpone contract talks.

He has recently joined close friend Gary Ablett in the stable of veteran player manager Liam Pickering who is savvy enough to know Lynch’s decision will have a major bearing on how much money is available for his client.

Hall and his partner had their first child in December and he says his focus for now was firmly on his family life.

“I’ve had a lot going on in my life personally so I’ve just decided to focus on home and doing everything I can with a new born,’’ he said.

“I want to make sure I’m at home doing as much as I can as well as getting the most out of my footy.

“Just for now I’m happy focusing on being at home.

“It is a long season, contacts are out in November so it will take care of itself and all the rest of it.’’

His partner graduates from her university dentistry studies at the end of this year and Hall says the pair have no firm plans yet on where they want to raise their family.

“At some point in time we will have a conversation about contracts and where we want to be in the future,’’ he said.

While his captain’s future is the subject of daily speculation, Hall is happy his status has remained largely off the radar.

“I think you guys should focus on Tommy Lynch being out of contract, he’s the focal point,’’ he said.

“I think he’ll leave a couple of dollars for the rest of them.’’

The 27-year-old did speak glowingly about the impact new coach Stuart dew has had on the club.

The Suns rolled through an understrength Geelong in Townsville on Sunday with defensive pressure a feature of the 56 point victory.

“It doesn’t matter who you’re playing, if you can bring that pressure, then we can then bring our offensive movement going forward, we can do some damage,” he said.

“It’s what Dewy’s brought in, that high pressure, getting after the opposition and forcing them to turn it over.

“On the weekend our small forwards were immense in that, and it’s infectious from there.”
