CHRIS Mayne’s manager has given a strong indication the versatile goalkicker will join Collingwood’s downsized forward line next season.

Mayne’s agent, Colin Young, suggested the Pies would be the right fit if they can agree to terms for the Dockers’ utility.

“No doubt Chris will be playing in Melbourne next year, it’s just coming down to fine tuning a couple of things with a couple of clubs,” Young said.

Collingwood is a great club, I’d love him there. Hopefully in the next 10 days they decide to take him.

Collingwood has taken an aggressive approach to player movement after missing the eight for the third consecutive season in 2016.

Spearhead Travis Cloke wants a move to Western Bulldogs, while vice-captain Nathan Brown remains unsigned beyond this season.

The Pies are also chasing North Melbourne match-winner Daniel Wells.

Wells and Mayne are both free agents, meaning they can walk to the Pies for nothing.

Robbie D’Orazio, from Connors Sports Management, handles Cloke’s affairs and is set to secure the premiership forward a two-year deal at the Dogs.

Leading player agent Paul Connors believed the Pies were unlikely to gain much at the trade table in return for Cloke, saying the move was more about clearing some cash space in the Pies’ salary cap

“I don’t think you are going to see pick 35 jump out of from any club’s pockets into Collingwood’s. I think it is more a free agency model.” Connors said.

“Collingwood is after a lot of players in this period and … I think they need some salary cap room.

“So I think you will find that both parties will come together in a few weeks and work it out and I think Collingwood want his money out.

“And it’s a mutual (trade), very mutual.

“He has loved the club, really likes ‘Bucks’. They’re probably just not on the same wavelength from a football perspective.”
