A SECRET meeting with Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson and the club’s doctor convinced wantaway Gold Coast Suns star Jaeger O’Meara to nominate the reigning premiers as his preferred trade destination.

O’Meara’s manager Colin Young met with Hawthorn list manager Graham Wright.

Young said O’Meara, who is currently overseas, was lured to the Hawks on a promise to fix his debilitating knee problems.

“The key factor for Jaeger was Michael (Makdissi) the doctor at Hawthorn and also meeting with Clarko,” Young said at the Trade Radio launch.

“Those two together convinced Jaeger they were the right team to take him forward. Mainly because of his knee, to get his knee right and make sure he can play next year.”

Young predicted a trade for the 2013 Rising Star, who has not played a senior game for the past two seasons after rupturing his patella tendon last year, could be complicated and involve other clubs.

“I’ve heard from (Suns list manager) Scotty (Clayton) that he’s not looking for picks — he’s looking for players,” Young said.

“So it could be players that might want to go to other clubs and then players move around. It’s going to be a pretty diverse trade.”

Young said O’Meara’s decision to walk out on the Suns, made in about Round 20, was purely based on him wanting to live in Melbourne.

“It was never about the money ... once he decided he was going to move then it was about choosing the right club for him.”

CONTRACTED Hawk Bradley Hill officially told the club he wants a trade home to Western Australia.

Hill’s manager Jason Dover, of Stride Sports Management, said the focus would be on getting the triple-premiership wingman to Fremantle, where he could play alongside his brother, Stephen.

West Coast could be an option for the speedster should a deal not get done with the Dockers.

NOT even the deal of the century would see Jesse Hogan leave Melbourne this trade period.

Tom Petroro, whose company Stride Sports managers Hogan, said it was extremely unlikely the Melbourne star would leave the Demons next year.

“I see it as a lot of noise,” Petroro said.

“I can’t see anything happening over this trade period. Let’s not forget that Jesse is contracted until the end of next year and I don’t even think the deal of the century would get Melbourne to do a deal.”
