Nathan Buckley says his focus is on improving Collingwood in short and long term

THE football world is talking about Nathan Buckley’s future and the man himself addressed the issue on Tuesday, saying he doesn’t expect a decision until the end of the season.

COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley is content to wait until the end of the season before finding out if the club wants him or not for 2018.

While the football world debates whether Buckley should be reappointed for another season or sacked, the Magpies appear in no hurry to make a call on Buckley’s future.

The Magpies are 5-9 on the win-loss ledger and 15th on the ladder, but Buckley insists the club will throw everything into getting something positive out of the rest of the season.

“Everyone that is not involved in it (the decision) would like to know what is going on ... the reality is that I am more than happy to let the season play out,” Buckley said.

“I think the time for senior leadership discussions is generally in the off season and that’s where they will take place. That’s where it will happen.”

He has continued to play a role in the discussions around the club’s list management strategy with an eye on 2018 and beyond.

“My major charter is to continue to look forward as much as I am looking to Saturday (against Essendon), to be able to put the club in as strong a position as we can,” he said.

Buckley said Darcy Moore (hamstring) remained in doubt for the clash with Essendon, but would attempt to prove his fitness on Thursday.

Tyson Goldsack is recovering from concussion. If he doesn’t make it back this week, it could pave the way for Ben Reid’s return.
