NORTH Melbourne great Wayne Carey has moved to rubbish suggestions of any involvement in the sledging saga.
Carey said on Monday night suggestions from “keyboard warriors” that had implicated him in the Marc Murphy situation were “total crap”.
“(It was) a couple of years ago and it was just a phone call from friends ... (who) asked about a rumour,” Carey said.
“It was about Marc Murphy and his wife. It clearly had no truth to it whatsoever so I didn’t worry about it too much.
“It started to grow legs a little bit more and a little bit more.”

Murphy and fashion blogger Jessie Habermann tied the knot in December.
Last night Carey said he had never even spoken to Mrs Murphy.
“I’ve been in contact with Murph for the last year and a half — we’ve been on the phone constantly as this rumour and innuendo grew and grew and grew.
“I have never, ever, ever had a conversation with Marc Murphy’s wife. I don’t even know her. But Murph and I have been in constant contact.
“Then, from there, it was a conversation based around what do we do about it. We at one stage thought we might send out a press release or talk about it on radio ... but decided not to.

“What happened on the weekend with the St Kilda situation ... I wasn’t a part of any of that sledging.
“My name wasn’t brought up in any of that sledging by the St Kilda players. (The rumours) had gone away for about the last four months.
“This arose on the weekend and straight away people started putting that rumours back out on social media.”
Carey said that he and Murphy had “been on the phone all day” and he called for the rumours to finally be put to a stop.
“He is really distressed,” Carey said on Channel Seven.
“I’m more worried about Jessie, her mum and dad, grandparents, friends, family. It’s gone on far too long.
“At times today, I was really upset. I can understand how upset Marc and his wife.
“You just hope that this all goes away. There is not one element of truth to all of this. This has reignited this stupid rumour that is just wrong.”
