“We just didn’t have 22 contributors, plain and simple.
“It’s been our one wood all year, we have 22 blokes play their role.
“I was probably one of those 22 that didn’t play my role, I’m definitely disappointed.
“I would never ever question any of my boys’ effort, (it was) just the ability to execute fundamentals and the simple things that are able to win footy games.
“I imagine we’ll do a bit of reflecting as individuals and as a group over the next few months and have a fair dinkum look about exactly what went wrong.
“As a captain I’m super proud of how resilient this football club is, we’ve been through a lot but just weren’t able to get what we want today.”
Walker gave credit to the Tigers, whose trademark pressure made forward entries and goal scoring difficult for the Crows.
“We weren’t able to finish off a good year, but Richmond was just too good,” Walker said.
“I’d say they would have beaten us in contested footy, the pressure, we weren’t able to get our attack going and I just thought their pressure all day was pretty solid.”
With defender Jake Lever linked to a move to Melbourne and exciting forward Charlie Cameron to Brisbane, Adelaide’s list could look a little different for season 2018.
But Adelaide chief executive Andrew Fagan wasn’t making any announcements in the rooms last night.
“They’re things that we’ll work out later, I’m certainly not going to comment on players on Grand Final day,” Fagan said.
“It doesn’t matter what I think, it matters what happens and they’re thins that we’ll deal with over the next little while.”
