A SHATTERED Hugh Greenwood said Adelaide would take “months’’ to get over its grand final nightmare after it failed to produce on the big stage.
The former basketballer said that while the Crows are proud of their season, which brought them a second minor premiership, the eight-goal grand final loss to Richmond meant they “didn’t accomplish what we set out to do’’.
“Which is really disappointing,’’ he said. “The reality is there was always going to be a winner and loser and Richmond was too good.
“Obviously we didn’t have our best day and you can’t bring that on the last Saturday in September.
“I thought we started the game well, adapted to the pressure and tempo of the game early, but we didn’t maintain the level for four quarters
“Credit to Richmond because it did that but unfortunately we didn’t stand up.’’
Greenwood, who finished the game with a corked calf, said the Crows players were devastated at not performing when it counted most.
“That’s what hurts the most because we know what we are capable of and to not produce on grand final day is very disappointing,’’ he said.
“These guys are all brothers and failing together is not great. The club and fans have invested so much in us and it would have been nice to pay them back (with a premiership).”
