IT was the week the Triple Js rocked.

Dogs midfielder Jack Macrae continues to tear up the 2018 season, posting another monster score to move further clear at the top of the most points list. Meanwhile, Eagle forward Jack Darling also went epic — his 181 positioning himself as the top forward in the game. Down back, it was Jake (can we call him Jack) Lloyd who smashed out a 173 to move into the third best scorer defence.

Did you have any of them in your team?

The Eradicator doesn’t. Perhaps he doesn’t know Jack!

In a season which is so close, it’s very easy to get drawn to such impressive scores and question your entire strategy, but is it the best thing for your team?

This season has already shown us that form can be cyclical, as many of the most rolled gold premiums have had purple patches and lulls. Four weeks into the season it was Tom Mitchell, Dusty Martin and Paddy Dangerfield that were the must-haves.

ROOKIE BIBLE: IS IT TIME TO CASH IN KELLY?

It’s probably something to remember before you push your finances to the limit to pay close to maximum price for a player hoping the purple patch is actual the future average.

... who knows, perhaps with Macrae it is?

Whatever the result, you get the feeling this shapes as a defining move in 2018.

Meanwhile, the bye rounds are upon us. It’s something you should be factoring in with your trading through this tricky part of the season.

All Port Adelaide and Gold Coast players will be on the pine this week as we field a 22-player team under normal rules. But it’s just a precursor to what will happen between R12-14. Each week during that period, you’ll have to play at least 18 on the park with between 4 and 6 teams not playing through those weeks.

Some thought to that now, coupled with some smart trading, could save you unwanted doughnuts, be the difference in league matches and fire you up the overall leaderboard.

At least that’s the plan.

Hit me with your questions as we start the run into Round 10.
