SuperCoach Rage Trades: Who to boot and who to buy ahead of Round 16
For so long a SuperCoach darling, Gary Ablett Jr’s dominance has waned in 2019, but could he still be a part of your SuperCoach plans in the run to the finals?

Get Gaz or give him a miss?
The ageing Geelong gem put together back to back tons in the past fortnight, before managing just 69 on the weekend.
It’s a frustration, but a question you need to ask.
At $504k, he’s still capable of producing near-premium numbers, as evidenced by his quartet of tons in a row from rounds 4-7, punctuated by a huge 148 against West Coast.
His role might have changed, but to give you an idea of why you might want to at least consider the Little Master, we put together this handy table:
So yes, he’s one to keep an eye on — especially if you have a near-full team of premiums and you’re thinking upgrading your M8, but don’t have enough to get one of the $600k boys.
Round 15 SuperCoach scores and late mail
BOOT HIM
Luke Dahlhaus
A 39 and an 88 in his last two sees him leaking cash at the moment. While he has had a number of scores over 100 none of them have been over 110. The key is whether or not you had him as a keeper or not, if you didn’t then this is when you need to trade him out before he loses any more value.
Jordan De Goey
This week saw his lowest score of the season but importantly he hasn’t been over 90 in his last four outings. His issue this week was down to his poor use of the footy as he went at 41%. Ordinarily a game like this would have him on watch but being sub 90 for the last four weeks now is enough to say it is time to upgrade him.
Heath Shaw
There are a few teams that are banking on the Heater but he has failed to deliver for the last couple of weeks and hasn’t hit 100 since round 9. His 47 this week surely must be the final straw for them. Boot him before he costs you more league matches.
Toby Greene
Inconsistency is the main issue with Toby. He has a great score every now and then but not often enough. Looking back over his last 6 we have seen him go 47, 106, 84, 60, 104 and now 74. While there are a couple of good scores in that group there just aren’t enough.
Brodie Smith
Smith is a real concern for owners, he has the ability to score well but he can put in a shocker too. Unfortunately his last three scores will really test the patience of owners with a 48, 74 and now 65. With Milera still to return to this side his scores may suffer further. He is an ideal price to upgrade but if you are really short on trades you may need to just wear these scores.
Jack Billings
Just the 76 for Billings as he has been very inconsistent lately. He did have a great game in Round 13 but it is the other scores that are hurting us. His last five have produced a 73, 56, 169, 91 and now his 76. So his best is great but we just aren’t getting enough consistency. Cash him in at his peak as his BE will rise this week.
Angus Brayshaw
We gave him a chance and he has let us down after two games with his 69 this week. Unfortunately, we can’t put up with scores like this from him. If you are planning to keep him then you need to be prepared for some scores like this one.
BUY HIM
Zac Williams
Since returning from injury he has put in three games over 100 with the last two being 143 and 126. He has had some injuries and been up and down lately but he has shown some great form of late and hopefully this is a sign of things to come. His price will rise so his is a good time to get on him.
Rory Sloane
After being unbelievably cheap last week at $511k many jumped on Sloane (myself included) and he repaid new owners handsomely. He is having a great season and with the extra attention that Matt and Brad Crouch are drawing from opponents it is leaving Sloane free to do as he pleases. If you have plans to bring him in then do it sooner rather than later as he won’t be this cheap for long.
Luke Shuey
Back to back 120+ for Shuey as he has been quietly slipping under the radar with all the attention going to Gaff. He is a very solid option as he doesn’t have poor games very often at all and can go big. The other advantage is that he is only in 3% of teams and could be the difference for you in a league matchup.
Jack Ziebell
Ziebell has slipped under the radar of many coaches and he has been over 110 now in three of his last four games with two of them over 120. He is in less than 4% of teams, is a forward eligible player and has a price of just on $500k. He could be the difference for you heading towards finals.
Scott Lycett
Lycett’s last two weeks have seen scores of 180 and 165 and this has coincided with Ryder being out of the side and him having solo ruck duties. He is relishing the role. Granted these two games have been against Geelong and the Bulldogs who don’t have true A grade ruckmen but this sort of form just can’t be ignored. The key to Lycett though is that he is available as a Ruck/Forward so can be a great backup swing player for you.
Lachie Neale
Neale’s price dropped this week and will probably drop again as he still has a 79 in his cycle. But with scores like this he won’t stay cheap for long. At a price like this he will be too good to pass up, if you don’t have him it could cost you match-ups if you don’t have him.
Nat Fyfe
It seems obvious but Fyfe is great pick-up at the moment as he has a 91 in his price cycle which means even though he had a 141 he actually missed his BE. But he won’t be this cheap for much longer. He is a must have.
PLAYERS TO WATCH FOR ANOTHER WEEK
These guys aren’t buys or boots just yet, but they are ones that we should just keep a close eye on.
Gary Ablett Jnr
While he has been good lately, is it time for Gaz to go? He did have 19 touches and 2 goals but his efficiency was way down at 52%. You can afford to give him one more week to rebound but if he doesn’t you may have to make a tough call on the little master.
Andrew Gaff
This is back to back 89s for Gaff as he has been tagged in both games. This is a huge concern for owners. If you are low on trades don’t move him on but if you have plenty in the bank just be ready to pull the trigger if this becomes a regular thing.
Josh P Kennedy
First time over 100 since his injury issues for JPK this week. Prior to his injury he had 4 games in a row over 110 so just keep an eye on him to see how he goes this week to see if it is worth bringing him in once his price bottoms out.
Robbie Gray
While Robbie didn’t have a great game like he has had in the previous few rounds he only just missed his BE and should remain under $500k. It was great to see him starting in the midfield on many occasions on the weekend but this may be under threat with the return of Rockliff and possibly Sam Powell-Pepper next week against Adelaide. Don’t panic trade him though as he can have a quiet game like this then explode the week after.

ROOKIE WATCH
TIME TO TRADE
Tom Atkins BE 49 scored 43
This was Atkins second lowest score for the season, and unfortunately it will affect his BE for a couple of weeks. It is time to be upgrading anyway so it seems a good opportunity to move him out.
Ben King BE 25 scored 29
He did cop a head knock early in the game but his scores haven’t been enough to hold him, he has actually dropped in value before this week’s game to be below his starting price.
Nick Larkey BE 67 scored 30
After being relatively consistent his last two weeks have now seen his two lowest with 40 and 30. He has made some money but with these two scores his BE will be too high to make much more quickly.
Luke Davies-Uniacke BE 70 scored 63
For Luke his scoring has been very consistent, and he has now reached his peak so it is time to move him on.
Willem Drew BE 63 scored 51
There are nearly 20% of coaches that held Drew for the hope of cashing in on his return but unfortunately the conditions didn’t help his scoring. If you are holding him as bench cover that may not work either as both Rockliff and Sam Powell-Pepper dominated in the SANFL and should earn recalls this week.
Connor Rozee BE 91 scored 57
Rozee struggled in the wet like most of the rookies did but he did put up a decent score. However, he has reached his peak and has been losing money lately. Unless he is your long term bench backup cover then it is time to move him out.
Shai Bolton BE 91 scored 51
Bolton’s run should be over in your team and it is time to move him on. With a number of the key Tigers back his roll will diminish.
Noah Answerth BE 70 scored 63
Answerth was better this week than he has been in the previous two but he didn’t make his BE. Unless you plan to keep him for bench cover and DPP with Duursma then you can look at trading him.
Marty Hore BE 108 scored 76
We all thought that Hore would struggle to get to his BE this week. Like many of the other options he is one that you can hold for bench cover if you want and if this is the case his value isn’t a concern. If you are planning to use him as an upgrade then it is time to move him on.
ROOKIES ON THE BUBBLE
Jarrod Cameron Scores of 69 and 26
Just the 6 kicks with no goals this week which was why his score was down on his first. He should hold his spot with Petruccelle out of the side injured though. A downgrade option if you need one.
Peter Ladhams Scores of 66 and 79
These are great scores for the Power rookie ruckman, but his issue will be getting a regular game. With Justin Westhoff and Paddy Ryder both playing SANFL on the weekend and a chance to return and Dougal Howard set to return from suspension, his job security doesn’t look great. I wouldn’t look to rely on him.
ROOKIES ON WATCH
Xavier Duursma BE 89 scored 47
Ordinarily we would say trade, but the only reason I say just keep on watch is that he was playing in shocking conditions. Many coaches are relying on him as a D6 given they are struggling for trades. But if you are flush with trades then this would be a week to move him on.
Zac Butters BE 90 scored 78
He was the best of the Power rookie quartet this week in the wet. His drop in price this week is mostly due to his 43 in round 14. His BE will be lower this week than it was so you could hold him as bench cover if you want.
Bailey Smith BE 103 scored 101
Seems very harsh to have a guy that scores a 101 on watch but his BE will remain high this week as he has a 36 in his price cycle from round 14 still so while it won’t be as high as the 103 it was this week it still will require a great game from him to meet it.
START HIM
All Rookies need to be played during this part of the season. But we will still split them to show who helped you and who didn’t.
