Round 15 SuperCoach scores and late mail
Never fear, Fyfe is here. The Freo star came to the late rescue of SuperCoaches who put the VC on the likes of Max Gawn, Josh Kelly or Luke Parker with a masterclass against the Blues. EVERY ROUND 15 SCORE
Supercoach
Don't miss out on the headlines from Supercoach. Followed categories will be added to My News.
It could have been a very ugly weekend for SuperCoaches.
For those who captained Max Gawn — who went down with injury in the Dees’ loss to Brisbane and scored just 46 points, we can’t help you.
But those who stuck it on Mr Reliable Nat Fyfe were rewarded with his equal highest score of the season.
The Dockers might have lost at the siren, but that didn’t stop Fyfe from giving SuperCoaches a gift.
Best popular VC options were Jack Macrae (142), Adam Treloar (133), Brodie Grundy (133), Rory Sloane (129) and Tim Kelly (128), while Fyfe was the pick of the orange armband notables with 147 — you could have done worse than Lachie Neale’s 137.
Lachie Whitfield’s collarbone injury caused a rethink in the trade plans of many SuperCoaches.
The GWS star’s speedy recovery might be about to cause more headaches if you punted Whitfield with one eye on bringing him back in.
Giants co-captain Phil Davis has flagged Whitfield — who has a SuperCoach average of 110.9 — could return in Round 16 the GWS’ clash with Brisbane Lions.
“I’m pretty confident he will be back next week,” Davis said on Channel 7.
“I thought he would have been close for Thursday night so I’m pretty confident he will be back (in Round 16). He’s a pretty important player for us.”
Whitfield has the third-best average of any defender this year behind Shannon Hurn and Jake Lloyd.
He is only in 18.9 per cent of teams due to his untimely injury blow but could be available for $550,000 come Round 17 due to his break even of 154.
If you’re serious about a tilt at SuperCoach glory or league success, you’ll need the prolific Giant come finals.
ROCKLIFF, WESTHOFF’S INSANE SANFL STATS
Ken Hinkley made Tom Rockliff and Justin Westhoff earn their spots in the Port Adelaide team via the Power reserves.
Now he has some interesting selection calls on his hands after the pair returned ridiculous numbers in the SANFL today.
GET ALL THE LATE MAIL AND SUPERCOACH SCORES FOR ROUND 15 BELOW
Rockliff had 57 disposals while Westhoff collected 37 touches, three goals and nine marks in Port Adelaide’s 42-point win against North Adelaide.
The former Lion’s full stat line read: 27 kicks, 30 handballs, seven marks, 12 tackles — and 220 SuperCoach points.
Young midfielder Joe Atley also put up his hand for senior selection with 27 disposals and 10 tackles.
WILL BRAVE CRIPPS TRADE PAY OFF?
Hold your premiums. If there’s one rule you’re advised to follow in SuperCoach, it’s never to trade the game’s biggest stars.
But at this point of the season, with so little between the top 100 teams, could a point of difference trade be rockets you into contention?
Carlton captain Patrick Cripps is one of the most popular SuperCoach selections, sitting in 129,323 teams.
Coaches were floored on Thursday by the news a foot injury would rule the Blues co-captain out for at least 1-2 weeks, leaving a gaping hole in most midfields due to his average of 119.8.
If you’ve got trades to spare and need to be decisive, moving Cripps on could be the power play which defines your season.
At $584,400, you could bank $14,000 by turning Cripps into West Coast skipper Shannon Hurn (average 111.8) or trade him directly to undervalued tackle machine Elliot Yeo, who has a five-round average of 120.
If you’ve got at least 10 trades, you could use two to trade Cripps — bolstering your team for the next two weeks while others suffer — then bring him back when he returns.
It’s a risky strategy, but if you want to achieve SuperCoach glory, you can’t sit back and follow the rest of the pack.
SUPERCOACHES ON DANGERFIELD WATCH
Just a hip pointer?
Let’s hope so, for SuperCoaches’ sake.
Geelong — and nearly 140,000 SuperCoaches will be sweating on the results of scans on forward gun Patrick Dangerfield after he was injured in the clash with Adelaide.
After an up and down start to the SuperCoach season, Dangerfield was on a roll, churning out four tons in a row — all over 115, for juicy three-round average of 140.
But it came crashing back to earth tonight after he collided with Adelaide tough nut Daniel Talia and was forced from the ground, before coming back noticeably ginger and spending the rest of the match in the forward line.
Fingers’ crossed he’s right next week or SuperCoaches will have a big decision to make in the run to finals.

FREMANTLE v CARLTON
Late Mail: No late changes
Heroes: Nat Fyfe — what a player. Mid-priced defender Connor Blakey (105) tonned up, while popular starter Nic Newman (117) might have been dumped by most sides, but he registered his first ton in five rounds to give those who held onto him a reward. Cheapie Will Setterfield had his highest score of the season with 72 and, if you still have him and he holds his form, he could make you plenty of dough over the next couple of weeks.
Villains: Bit harsh, but Charlie Curnow scored just five points before he was injured and ruled out of the game before the end of the first quarter. Paddy Dow only had 52, while after a big late start to the season, Griffin Logue somewhat crashed back to earth with 67. Let’s hope you don’t have Brett Bewley as a cheapie — he only scored 41 and may not make enough money to be an upgrade option.

BRISBANE v MELBOURNE
Late mail: Witherden (illness) replaced in selected side by Starcevich
Heroes: Take your pick from the Lions. The midfield was absolutely cooking, Dayne Zorko’s 155 leading six players with 115 or better. Lachie Neale (137) bounced back nicely from last week’s 79, while Eric Hipwood’s five goals in 16 minutes were worth 115. Popular dual-position cheapie Noah Answerth bounced back with 63. For the Dees, only Christian Salem (133) and Clayton Oliver (103) managed to reach triple digits.
Villains: Max Gawn! The big fella, usually one of the most reliable men in the game, will have left more than 106,000 SuperCoaches bleeding after an early ankle injury limited him to just 46 points. After back-to-back tons, Angus Brayshaw compounded owners’ frustration with just 69 points.

ST KILDA v RICHMOND
Late mail: No late changes
Heroes: Rowan Marshall has fast become of the most consistent ruckmen in the game. His work around the ground is top-class — he had 19 disposals, took nine marks and 33 hitouts against the Tigers. He’s unlikely to be available for under $500,000 in SuperCoach again this year after a game-high 161 on Sunday. That’s now four scores of 119 or better in a row for Marshall and eight hundreds in 12 matches. Don’t doubt it. He’s the real deal. Mabior Chol continued his breakout run for the Tigers with 113 and defender Nick Vlastuin matched his effort, scoring 113. Saints fans would have been buoyed by the signs shown by Hunter Clark (105).
Villains: You’d still be kicking yourself if you traded in Bachar Houli when his price reached $564,200. The rebounding Tiger has gone 93, 68 and 60 in the past three weeks after a run of five tons in six matches. He had a break even of 164 before Sunday’s game and will be closer to $500,000 heading into Round 16. Unless you’re flush with trades, you’ll have to ride out your mid-season investment. After two weeks playing predominantly midfield, Jade Gresham spent more time forward with Jack Steele returning and could only manage 51.

Late mail: No late changes.
Heroes: Marcus Bontempelli was on world record pace when he had 85 points on the board at quarter-time. He couldn’t keep it up but still managed 130, overtaken by midfield mate Jack Macrae, who is averaging 147 over his past three. Think that’s good? We’d like you to meet Scott Lycett, who scored 165 against the Dogs to back up his 180 last week (three-round average 152).
Villains: Hard to be too rough on anyone in the horrendous conditions at Adelaide Oval. Robbie Gray (62) and Ollie Wines (57) just couldn’t make anything happen.

COLLINGWOOD v NORTH MELBOURNE
Late mail: James Aish (hamstring soreness) replaced by Matthew Scharenberg.
Heroes: Ben Cunnington is still in just 6 per cent of teams despite averaging 113 for the season, with his 142 against the Pies his second-best for the season. And Jack Ziebell is still a cheap forward option, although his price will rise sharply again this week after his 121 — his sixth ton in the past nine weeks. Brodie Grundy, meanwhile, scored a run-of-the-mill 133.
Villains: Tough night on the injury front with Ben Reid hurting his calf before he could score a point and Brayden Sier scoring just 13 before sitting out the second half. Kangaroos debutant Kyron Hayden had appeal as a $102k mid/fwd but he didn’t last night either, suffering an achilles injury after scoring 31 points.

SYDNEY v GOLD COAST
Late mail: No late changes.
Heroes: Isaac Heeney had just 29 points at halftime but dominated the second half to score 117, his highest score since Round 4. Josh Kennedy scored a routine 125, George Hewett (121) continued his transformation into a ball-wining midfielder and Anthony Miles (118) did what many thought he might do at the Suns after moving from Richmond with back-to-back 118s.
Villains: Jake Lloyd is one of the most reliable players in SuperCoach so this came totally out of the blue — his 62 was his lowest return since Round 12, 2016 (if we don’t count the 2017 game when he was KO’d in the opening minutes). You’re unlucky if you have Callum Sinclair in the ruck — an early shoulder injury restricted him to just 20.

HAWTHORN v WEST COAST
Late mail: No late changes
Heroes: Luke Shuey stormed home with a massive final quarter to post his third score over 130 for the season. Jack Darling had one of his up weeks, a last-minute tackle helped Shannon Hurn crack the ton and Nic Naitanui scored 99 in his first game back — from 58 per cent game time. Jarman Impey and Jaeger O’Meara were the best-performed Hawks while the conditions suited James Worpel (92).
Villains: James Sicily almost scored enough to escape this category but a slow start and finish ensured he fell well short of his 148 break even — and he could be in trouble for delivering a spray at an umpire. Eagles forward Jarrod Cameron will be on the bubble this week but couldn’t back up his impressive debut, scoring just 26.

Heroes: Great bounce back for Tim Kelly, leading the way for the Cats with 129. Can you be a hero if no one owns you? If so, then Mark Blicavs (115) gets it for his first ton of the season. Those who kept the faith with Gryan Miers (110) were rewarded with a ton — after a season-low 27 last week. Rory Sloane (129) continues to pop out tons for fun while the SuperCoach bargain of the year, Reilly O’Brien, continued his ridiculous season with 120. The Crouch brothers were passable (Matt, 109, Brad, 95).
Villains: It was injury-affected, but Danger just hasn’t been the same Danger this season — many had him as vice-captain or (gulp) captain and his 83 just isn’t enough. Ton machine Mitch Duncan only averaged 86, while if you still owe Brodie Smith (65) you’re doing SuperCoach wrong.

ESSENDON v GWS GIANTS
Late mail: Patrick Ambrose (quad) replaced in the selected side by Aaron Francis
If you’re looking for a reliable SuperCoach defender, it’s hard to go past GWS gun Zac Williams.
On a night of low scores, Williams was the absolute standout, his 126 making him the only player of either side to produce better than 112 SuperCoach points.
That’s rolled gold, especially when you consider he has a three-round average of 125 — better than any defender not named Dane Rampe.
Williams gets off the leash and is a beautiful user of the footy and, with Lachie Whitfield out and at just over $500k, he must come under SuperCoach consideration.
Heroes: Apart from Williams’ 126 being the clear standout, Dylan Shiel (112) owners will be pleased with his return to form after three weeks of scores under three figures. Popular mid-priced starter Stephen Coniglio (102) also tonned up, while Don Shaun McKernan (103) and Giant Phil Davis (104) did the same, but aren’t exactly SuperCoach relevant. Popular cheapie Jackson Hately (55) couldn’t reach the heights of his previous two outings, but at least he’’ give owners a juicy price rise.
Villains: Those who used the VC on Josh Kelly will have to put their faith in another captain after he managed ‘only’ 104. You’re always happy with a ton, but you want a lot more if you’re going to loophole. Heath Shaw’s days as a premium defender are long-over.
