1. Missed out on Chad Warner? There’s still time. After scoring 112 KFC SuperCoach points against the Tigers, on the back of 20 disposals, eight score involvements, two goals and 417 metres gained, the second-year Swan’s breakeven of -72 is the lowest in the competition. So, even if he scores 70 in each of the next two rounds, he will add another $100k to his $228k price tag by Round 6. But, given his form and role, that’s likely to be the minimum.

2. After missing the opening round, Docker Heath Chapman is on the bubble in Round 4 and, with a breakeven of -41, is set for a big first price rise. Fremantle’s top pick from last year’s draft was a standout against the Blues last week, tallying 18 disposals, nine contested possessions, six intercepts and six tackles to finish with 86 KFC SuperCoach points. He’s skilful and attacking – two traits he showed off throughout a blistering underage career – but Chapman’s intent and competitiveness was on display in Round 3, with the 18-year-old recording the second-most tackle attempts in the competition.

3. At the other end of the scale, following a third consecutive score of less than 90, Lachie Neale’s price is set to fall even further with a Round 4 breakeven score of 212. The Brownlow Medallist reminded KFC SuperCoaches of his scoring power with a huge first half against the Magpies, before fading out, so, unless he misses games with the back issue, you’re in for the long haul if you held him last week. He’s already dropped by $80k, the biggest fall in the competition.

4. There are two other big issues at this end – and they are both at Melbourne. Giants tagger Matt de Boer was all over Clayton Oliver in Round 3, restricting the Demons star to just 67 points. Oliver’s price fell by $28k and, with a breakeven of 168, it’s set to drop again in Round 4. And it could be a big fall, too. Geelong’s new master-stopper Mark O’Connor, who has done the job on Neale and Tom Mitchell in the past two matches, is likely to be waiting at the MCG on Sunday. The projected breakeven tool in SC Plus tells us that even if Oliver scores 113 points this week, his price will take another $25k hit and result in an even higher breakeven of 174. Given O’Connor’s effectiveness as a tagger so far, however, 113 might be a stretch for Oliver. Another sub-100 score might ensure his price drops below $550k, making him an ideal fallen premium upgrade target ahead of his Round 7 clash with North Melbourne.

5. His teammate Christian Petracca is the other concern. After averaging 117 points per game last year, Petracca started the year at $631k in KFC SuperCoach. But with scores of 98, 92 and 83 in the opening three rounds, the midfield bull’s price has already fallen below $600k. And with a breakeven of 170 in Round 4, it’s likely to take another huge hit if he can’t tidy up his disposal by foot. Petracca’s kicking efficiency of 44.9 per cent is the worst of the top 70 players in the competition for total kicks. It’s been the big driver in his league-leading clanger count or 22 – and each is worth -5 in KFC SuperCoach.

BURNING QUESTIONS: THE PHANTOM TACKLES ALL THE BIG ISSUES

6. The Bulldogs are off to Ballarat it Round 4 to host the Lions at Mars Stadium. And to say star midfielder Jack Macrae loves the ground is an understatement. In his past five matches at the venue, dating back to 2017, Macrae has posted scores of 119, 135, 147, 189 and 145. And in his past three against Brisbane? 182, 135 and 155. A great Saturday afternoon VC/C option in Round 4. SC Plus tells us that 5.7 per cent of KFC SuperCoach teams already have him locked in as captain.

7. Speaking of huge scores, that’s exactly what Geelong midfielder Cam Guthrie produced on Easter Monday. Against the Hawks, Guthrie recorded career highs for disposals (43), clearances (10), uncontested possessions (27), marks (11) and KFC SuperCoach points (163). He’s now posted three KFC SuperCoach tons to start the year and is averaging 115 points since Round 9, 2020. And Guthrie, without taking into account trades this week, is in just 1.4 per cent, or 2219, of teams.

8. At the other end, boom rookie Errol Gulden is in 120,327 teams – 75.6 per cent of the competition. And rightly so, too.

9. After recording a season-low 27 points against the Dockers, Carlton’s Paddy Dow is the most traded out player in KFC SuperCoach, with 8262 teams dumping the midfielder-forward as of Wednesday morning. And 1508 of those KFC SuperCoaches are going with Chapman as his replacement, using a DPP swing. Injured Docker Hayden Young is a close second, with 8018 jumping off – 1510 of them for Hawthorn surprise packet Changkouth Jiath, who has posted back-to-back KFC SuperCoach tons.

10. In the opening three rounds, Bomber Jordan Ridley has played on 27 times from the kick-in – 4 more than the second-ranked player in the competition Jack Ziebell. Add that to his elite disposal efficiency of 88.6 per cent, along with his 96.6 per cent time-on-ground, and it’s no wonder he’s the runaway KFC SuperCoach leader in defence.

11. Collingwood star Brodie Grundy equalled his career-high hitout-to-advantage tally against the Lions, tapping it directly to his teammate 21 times. He finished with a huge 163 KFC SuperCoach points and he’s back at the MCG against the Giants in Round 4, a side the big man has scored 135, 157 and 139 against in the past three matches.
