While the Eagles reigned supreme by 34 points at Leederville Oval, it was the Cats pair that grabbed our attention — although the same can’t be said for popular ruck cheapie Darcy Fort (21 points).

The reigning premiers had some standout performances of their own, led by Grand Final hero Dom Sheed, and captain Shannon Hurn who looks like a good SuperCoach selection in defence.

CHARLIE CONSTABLE (Geelong) $123,900 MID — 92 points

Yet to make his AFL debut, the second-year midfielder was a standout in the Cats midfield, gathering 26 disposals at 73 per cent efficiency and laid four tackles. His 92 points were the third-most of the Geelong players behind Patrick Dangerfield and Mitch Duncan.

JORDAN CLARK (Geelong) $144,300 DEF — 87 points

The No.15 draft pick looked at home across halfback and played with composure beyond his years. Had 21 disposals, used it well and took the game on at every opportunity.

SHANNON HURN (West Coast) $523,400 DEF — 111 points

A popular pick courtesy of the new kick-in rules, Hurn put in the type of performance we’ve come to expect. Notched up triple figures in a positive sign for his scoring potential in 2019.

DOM SHEED (West Coast) $394,100 MID — 144 points

Who doesn’t love a mid-price gamble? It’s hard to ignore Sheed after his best on ground performance with 39 disposals, seven clearances and a goal. The top SuperCoach scorer on the night is one to watch.
